Received my new AC2600 router from M1. Had the same ISP DHCP error (no internet connection) after swapping in the new router.

Left the router in that state, went out for dinner, returned after 2 hours, the internet connection came back by itself, and the DHCP error was gone.

Thought I’d share, the AC2600 accept the config file from the AC1200+.
Just go to admin page and restore.

If anyone has used this router and the Linksys EA8100 Max-Stream AC2600 MU-MIMO Gigabit WiFi Router can share your feedback on the real world performance?

On paper both routers have similar specifications but curious to know if any edges out on the other.
Linksys also have DFS channels which I think Asus doesn't.

Asus RT-AC2600 Vs Asus RT-AC1200

Hi All , Currently i using Asus RT-AC1200 for the past 2 years , Just sign up M1 plan and they give me a brand new Asus RT-AC2600.

Can Anyone guide me what the different with this 2 ?
Is it worth to change to Asus RT-AC2600 ?
Cos I think is troublesome to change , cos need to do all the setting again .....

Thank you very much

Ac2600 is better. You could use their mobile app to do the setup.

Only thing is you need to remember is to reboit the modem and wait for for around half an hour before connecting the new router.

I tested on https://www.dnsleaktest.com/ using the extended test don't have any leak so far for the Linkys EA8100. Previously was using D-Link DIR-868L will have DNS leak from time to time.

I am using Cloudflare DNS, configured on both the router and my devices. I'm using M1 500 Mbps fibre if that matters.

The leak will appear if the cloudflare dns is configured only on the router.

Remove any dns configuration on the device and test again.

In general for single floor, all antennas shd be vertical?

And when is vertical, is there a particular rotation that matters? I.e is the coverage a symmetric circle around the antenna?

I see different answers. Here is one with some test results.

You can even try an app created by a PhD.

Another ref

In the end, you can probably just use vertical direction. But the router performance and placement in the house are probably more important.

When I removed DNS configuration on the device and test again, I get more IP addresses showing up (compared to just 1 when configured on both device and router) but they all show the ISP as cloudflare. I suppose this means no leak right?
