Hey guys, I've got an old Macbook Air (late-2013 model) which recently had a dead battery.

Would you guys recommend sending it back to Apple to repair ($188), or is it cheaper/ easy to DIY?

DIY batt pretty cheap in Shopee. comes with e screwdrivers too.

YouTube is a good source to learn all kinds of DIY tutorial. Changing battery for older MacBooks is easy.

My mbp 15 mid 2012 (i7, 16gb ram, upgraded to SSD) is currently running El Capitan, thinking of upgrading to Catalina (not compatible with Big Sur) but not sure if my system will lag or not. Any users of similar spec MBP and runs Catalina fine?

Your MBA supports

• Up to two external displays with 4096-by-2304 resolution at up to 60Hz

On how to achieve the above depends on the external monitors that you have in mind.

If you‘re connecting MBA to both monitors via HDMI/DP, you’ll need to connect at least one monitor through an external hub/dock with HDMI or DP port and support for power delivery.

If you have a monitor that support USB-C display connection with power delivery, than can forego the external hub.

1. i connected the macbook neo to a external display using HDMI on the Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter, but after i connected nothing happened, there was no display or settings for me, what did i do wrong?

2. using apple mail but i want to switch to outlook for mac, whats the best way to export and import?

1. you either test with other displays or tv that u have or you go to apple orchard and test it
2. if you existing mail service support imap and you are already using it. there is nothing to import, just configure your outlook for mac to connect to the same email service via imap, and outlook will download the mails either on-demand or preload on its own. there is nothing special for you to export or import. imap mail service store the emails in the mail server. unlike pop3 it doesn’t just download and delete from the server by default(actually pop3 support download without deleting too)

you can book for an apple genius session and have the folks there to help you

1. my other displays are only dvi or and vga. i tried add a display for windows its working on the same monitor.
2. my existing does support imap, every account is config under pop3... so i have to import and export else i will lose like a 2 months of mail.
but any ways thank you i can book a apple genius session
