Anyone knows if there's any places selling new mac mini 2012? Keen to buy it n upgrade the specs on my own...
It works if you don't need the keyboard / mouse etc. Otherwise when you add up the costs, a low end iMac will be more worth it.Is it worth it to get a mac mini 2014 with medium specs? Seems like its the most affordable way to own a mac

initially i planned to get a mac mini 2014 also. yes, only the medium spec it is worth considering as the cheapest base model is just waste of time.
but if it is to purchase the mid model, but the built in 1TB normal HDD is definitely not usable and it is definitely required to upgrade to a SSD/Fusion Drive which it ends up S$1,170.00. This is already a price for a MacBook Air 11-inch.
The 1tb hdd too laggy? Must change to ssd so its faster?
it is definitely slow. u will find the boot up/shut down, running application a lot slower even the processor is powerful enough.
at this century, it is a big turn off to still use the normal HDD as it is the biggest bottleneck to all the computers now. it is just a waste of time to get a computer with just normal HDD nowadays.
Thanks for the advise... can buy yr own SSD and DIY upgrade on ur own?

if you wanted large storage and speed, maybe you can do a fusion drive using smaller size ssd with 1 / 2 TB hdd.
