I would recommend you go buy iMac though Mac mini is cheaper and smaller
iMac give you good specification, processor and performance than Mac mini.

Much differences in terms of hardware. But again, it boils down to what you want to do.

I dont need the cpu to be so good, nor do i need the better gpu. I took mac mini, hook it up to a LED tv for many purposes like surfing, email, downloads of normal stuff and movies.

mac mini got more diy upgrade options.. whereas imac doesn't.. i still chose the imac cos it looks nicer and neater..

Other usage of Mac Mini: direct connection to LCD/LED TV as entertainment Mac, Server (Mac OS is Unix based) in "headless" mode, ie. no monitor, etc

well currently im using my macbook pro for just surfing youtube videos and the internet, nothing much high demand of a very good computer but i hate slow processing speed/boot-up. would the Mac mini have this problems as compare to the iMac?

Get a 240gb or 256gb SSD....you will love the transformation....of the Mac Mini.

lol i would love to but my macbook pro 320GB hdd i have only use less than 1/4 of the capacity

Than get the 128gb SSD since after formated it will give you about 6gb more than the 120gb SSD.

I only thought of using mac mini as house media player but u put in the car.

But how do u power it from ur car n what kind of function do u use

Mac Mini has more versatile setup options becos of hdmi, whereas iMac is stuck as a thunderbolt-only display. My 2011 mini is hooked to a 27inch Samsung monitor which is the centre of my entertainment system - hooked up to PS3, Apple TV and AC Ryan media player all at once.
The day when iMac display has a hdmi input port, I will switch to it. But for now, I'm loving my setup.

The day when iMac display has a hdmi input port, I will switch to it. But for now, I'm loving my setup.

The previous imac 27 could fit hdmi convert to mdp via a converter. Too bad now cannot.

A Few questions for those existing mac mini users :
1) Will the animation/OS lag on a 2560x1600 monitor via displayport?
2) Able to play 1080p mkv/mp4 videos?
3) Can run VM(parallel)?

Please kindly advice as i'm completely converting from windows to mac first time.

1) if yr referring to the mac display, there isn't any noticeable lag at least from my experience.

1) Nope. Currently using it with a Thunderbolt Display.
2) Of cos. mp4 you can use quicktime itself. mkv and others you have a chocie of VLC or mPlayerX.
3) VM no issues so far.

I am using a late 2012 base model but upgraded myself to a intel 335 240gb SSD and 8gb rams.
