All-New Mac Pro Launches Thursday, December 19 Starting at $2999 - Mac Rumors

mac_pro_2013_roundup_header-250x141.jpg
Apple today announced that its redesigned Mac Pro will go on sale tomorrow through the company's online and retail stores, as well as select authorized resellers.Pricing for the Mac Pro begins at $2999, with a second stock configuration available for $3999. Apple has yet to announce full build-to-order pricing, but earlier this week we outlined expected retail pricing based on price quotes being offered to some business customers. Based on these quotes, a fully loaded Mac Pro will cost approximately $9999.

Update: Apple CEO Tim Cook has posted a Tweet regarding tomorrow's launch, including a photo of new Mac Pro units on the assembly line in Austin, Texas.

Hmmm... no one is interested in the Mac Pro? It's expensive though, I'll admit...

try max out processor, RAM and ssd.

the price is S$13,528. :s13:

haha thats because you maxed the processor and GFX options.

Actually I don't think the pricing is *that* bad, considering an average power desktop user

Theres no real need to upgrade the processor from the base model, how many people need 12 cores anyway? Likewise for the ram, you could just upgrade the SSD if you really wanted to (honestly, with a desktop, you can just run external storage...you won't be moving the desktop, and you have ample thunderbolt ports for external devices).

The final setup which is fine for at least 90% of typical desktop users will be under 5K. Considering that the maxed out 13 inch rMBP already costs nearly 4K, it doesn't seem that bad, honestly.

If I've a lot of money, I'd get one. But for now, very happy with my 2010 MBP.

SSD cannot replaced by oneself

Because ordinary users like us don't need one.
We most probably wouldn't require the hardware that is built into the Mac Pro. The graphics card that's used in the Mac Pro is meant for rendering videos/farms

Looks like demand is higher than supply... I was surprised to see shipping dates slip to February.

Hmmmm... OWC is already supplying third-party RAMs for the Mac Pro. What are the chances that the graphics cards and the SSD can be replaced as well? That would make this even more appealing....

EDIT: Nevermind, I answered my own question.

Still deciding. Might just find another 5,1 to replace my 3,1 currently. I have no idea why one day I'll probably just click 'buy', heh. *while the missus is out, of course*

The missus says to buy one but I know that I don't really need one. I'll probably get a maxed-out iMac or rMBP in 2014 or 2015.

So it's actually way more "silver" than black?

Which 4K monitors are users pairing with it anyways? That Asus one? Wonder if the local authorized dealers will have units for showcase?
