thanks, had a quick check and it stated that i sent it in during the month of May. no luck i guess

Drop a call to AppleCare and see if they can offer an exception.

You need to speak to a senior advisor and he/she will decide. If he/she denies your request, offer to split the cost like you pay for labor fee and Apple cover the parts :p

The cost of the logic board is the killer, labor fee probably cost less than $200

I assume you bought the AppleCare Protection Plan previously - that can be used as a reason for the exception.

Why your logic board replacement so cheap? They quoted me 1k for no warranty replacement board.

thanks for the tip, i originally planned to drop by wheelock(where i went first time round) to see if i can get something done. I guess it wouldnt hurt to give them a call first.

When you said to call applecare, did u mean the authorised reseller peeps or an actual apple care representative? If so, how and where do i get a number? I went to apple.com and it just leads me back to QCD

Hello!

Refer to this link: Apple Telephone Support

Do scroll down to asia pacific region and look for Singapore. The telephone number is 800-186-1087. This is a toll free number that connects to Australia Apple telephone support. Do keep in mind they have a certain level of australian accent, so be patient with them if they asked you to repeat your sentences.. :)

They are the friendliest people in the support industry and usually they offer alternative solution that blows your mind.. Good luck! :)

The AppleCare advisors are not only from Australia. They have advisors all around Asia including Singapore as it's the HQ for Asia.

To be honest...since Apple is refusing to even acknowledge this issue, the only solution is to use the laptop till it fails and wait for a recall. In the meanwhile, buy a new one...Apple or Windows is upto you but this time choose wisely :) If you are leaning towards Apple, I suggest you buy the one without the graphic card. Apple has the worst track record when it comes to dedicated graphic cards. I think it is because the laptops suffer from poor thermal management....

My mbp 15" late 2011 bought in December 2011 failed on the 35th month.. Was out of applecare cos didn't buy the extension. Managed to get free logic board replacement with QCD after emailing Tim Cook. So far 2 weeks has passed, no reoccurrence of same issue yet. Apple support claims a brand new logic board was replaced. Saw the invoice which I signed off, cost of the board was $1300. Guess $900 wld be replacement with a refurbished logic board.
