Hi is there anyway to stop the internal fan from spinning like crazy whenever I use Google chrome. I feel like the fan will spin out of the laptop as the sound gets louder and louder due to sudden huge spike on cpu consumption by usage of the chrome web

Is your MBP the 13" or 15" model?

The fan spin because the CPU turbo boost. Switch off turbo boost by buying Turbo Boost Switcher Pro. Confirm no more fan sound cause CPU temps will drop a lot.

Its the 13" model! I went to the Apple genius bar for the replacement of butterfly keyboard keys and asked them about this situation and they said they couldn't do anything about it cause the issue is on Google's side and I doubt Google will try to fix the issue too

Use Safari instead.

I tried using safari but didn't really quite like it as using webs under Google such as YouTube loads slower on the safari, so I just had to bear with the crazy spinning fan

Use MS Edge Chromium then. Similar engine to chrome but much secure and less memory hogging.

I highly suspect your chrome browser is taking up excessive amounts of ram. Safari is excellent in managing this.

You should give safari another try. It should be as fast, if not faster than chrome. Safari is heavily optimised for mac and you're going to find your CPU temps to be more manageable. The only downside so far is that you can't watch youtube videos in 4K. But other than that, Safari should be a pleasant experience.

Like someone else said, Microsoft Edge is a great alternative if you're used to the chrome experience.

Usually its Youtube and sometimes Netflix. It revolves around watching videos and then suddenly I would hear the fan spinning. Then I would check the activity monitor and the highest spike would be 140% of the cpu resulting in fan spinning crazily. The sound is very loud

Yeap thanks to all the information, I have shifted my browser to MS Edge since I am quite used to the chrome interface which the MS Edge itself uses Chromium so its very similar and I was able to shift all the data from one browser to the another. I have been using it for a few hours so far and my fan does not spin anymore and the macbook is not that hot anymore. Safari is great and has the greatest privacy among all browsers but I guess I am too used to the interface it will need some time for me to get used to it.

Thanks for all the help everybody!

Also install an adblocker. I use uBlock Origin which sanitizes webpages, reducing resource use.

Another thing is go through browser settings and turn off everything you do not agree with, especially in Site Permissions. Background Sync. Turn that off too.
