Apple launches M6 MacBook Pro and iMac, pitches faster on-device AI

Oct 27 : Apple on Tuesday unveiled a new 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac powered by its latest M6 chip, touting faster performance for running AI tasks directly on the devices.

Here are more details:

• The 14-inch MacBook Pro starts at $1,999, while the iMac starts at $1,499

• Customers can pre-order the two products from Wednesday in 35 countries and regions, including the US, with availability starting November 6

• Apple said the M6 MacBook Pro delivers up to 30 per cent faster graphics and up to 25 per cent faster AI performance than its M5 predecessor, along with up to 24 hours of battery life, the longest ever in a Mac

• The new iMac delivers up to 5x faster on-device AI performance than the previous M4 model, Apple said

• The launches come a day before Apple hosts a "Pro and tell" event in Los Angeles on October 28, which Bloomberg News has reported is expected to feature Apple's first touch-screen MacBook Pro

Very gian to get but then i will wait until M6 Pro or M7 Pro then get or wait until software update not able to update for my M1 Macbook Pro then get. No point getting M5 Pro/Max series chip as they will be replaced with M6 Pro/Max in few months time.

My current M1 still serving me well.

I am also using M1 Pro as well, still fast and good. The poison is real to upgrade, but nah. Now memory prices, GPU prices all going up, every component all up prices.

seems like OLED MacBook Pro is much lighter than the Mini-LED MacBook Pro. 300 grams difference

Just wait for next gen which will include M7 pro and max chips, with far better cpu and gpu performance
they need to have one MacBook that has eSIM. So one do not need to source for Wifi or tap into dangerous free wifi hotspot.

Last time my work laptop from Fujitsu with nano SIM slot, very useful, at ulu places where i need to work from, i do not need to find wifi or hotspot from phone. Just use the data from the SIM will do.

I have a touchscreen lappy/workstation for the past 5 years, it’s hardly ever used, it’s just not ergonomic and very awkward workflow especially if prolong use, shoulder/arms will ache. Apple is really slow to the game and declining 😑

I saw the crowd reaction video to the glowing apple LED logo, the "Wow". Apple users really in their own world. Oled screen and touch screen.

I have a touchscreen ASUS laptop more than a decade ago, that was a time when Candy Crush was a thing, use it to play candy crush. But other than that, nothing much userful. Like you said, hands will ache.

But adding an OLED screen and cellular is good
