I’m currently using a 2015 MacBook Pro, and wish to know how do you guys maintain the screen. Does anyone still put the paper protector that come with the MacBook before closing the lid or just close the lid without any protector over the keyboard?

Thanks

I put a cloth over the keyboard.
The stains primarily come from the oils that you leave on the keys.

I had the stain gate issue for my late 2013 Macbook Pro retina 13 inch. Replaced the screen 4 or 5 times during the 3 year warranty period.

After the first replacement I bought a micro fibre cloth from shaggy max but it did not solve the issue entirely. The coating still peels off albeit it was slower.

After the last replacement I applied a screen protector as I know the issue will surely come back. Alternatively you can put a piece of A4 size paper between the screen and the keyboard. Replace the paper when it gets dusty or dirty and end up scratching the screen. I would still recommend a screen protector though applying it with minimal dust is pretty hard as you can imagine applying a 13 inch screen protector is really massive.

Hi sendhalp, i using 3M privacy protector over it so still safe right now but yet to remove the 3M privacy protector thus won't know if the actual layer is still going strong :s22:

Thanks for the replies! Previously I was using the piece of paper that comes with the MacBookc and just cover the keyboard.

But after awhile I realised that it leaves a lot of dust particles on the screen then I just removed it. Hopefully I won’t have to suffer the issue of Staingate *finger-cross*

I just sent in my 2015 MBP to Orchard Apple store to replace the screen due to Staingate yesterday.
The MBP is protected with screen protector since day 1 but still get staingate .

Upon check by the consultant there, no need to pay(S$552.00) as there is a quality program for it.

Does this still cover late 2013 MBP?

should be qualify for a free display replacement within the four-year coverage period(purchase date).
Just schedule a Genius Bar appointment at an Apple Store to check whether your qualify for the replacement .

Thanks for the replies. Though I've got a feeling that this model might be out of coverage since I bought it in Dec 13 and it's closer to 5 years old now.

I'm also using mid 2015 MBP but got a screen protector since day one and I don't intend to remove it as staingate may occur.

Guys,

So I recently realized my MacBook Pro which I purchased in March 2015 has the staingate issue.

I got it sent in the Apple repair to get it replace.

Just to let you know, for those having MacBook purchase in 2015, the quality program is ending in Oct 2019 according to the A.Lab staff. So do check urs if it has a staingate issue and get it fix at Apple ASAP.

How long to repair

Thank you for your information. How long does it take to repair the screen?

My Macbook is early 2015. I intend to change the screen because there are just way too many stains. I intend to repair it in Qcd Wheelock but I need my laptop for work asap.
