Hi all, for those who is using this gas heater,

1)what does the e1 error code mean? Sometimes when turn on, it shows e1 and water is not hot. I will have to turn off and on again to get it to heat the water.

2) currently this gas heater is installed at service yard. If I were to change to an electric heater, will the electric heater be at the same location in the service yard or need to be install in the specific toilet, so which means I will need to buy 2 electric heater instead for 2 toilets?

Just got this problem after having this for past 9 years.

E1 Ignition failure or flame extinguished
yup in the end i didnt repair it as advised by customer service of City gas. I bought a replacement gas heater. Tried out the Rubine BENE 10 FE. It was a new model back then. Seems quieter than my Macro previously with a big LED display. All good now.

How’s the water pressure of gas heater compared to storage heaters?
And will the hot water run out, or is continuous supply of hot water?

gas heater will compromise the water pressure, while storage heater wouldn't.

My Macro MA 10FE gas heater, installed around Jun 2011. Previously got Error E2. I fixed it by spinning the top exhaust fan, then drip alot of Stinger oil at the spinning area. Lasted a few years but now it starts to drip water. I have open it up and saw that the "tank like" parts are dripping water.

Called up Macro agent, they quoted :

1. Repair - Labour $80 + Parts $120. 3mths warranty.
2. Change new one, same model Macro MA 10FE for $400. 12mths warranty.

End up, I changed to a new gas heater. Hopefully it will last as long as the last one.

How much is your gas bill per month? Do you cook?

My gas bill is only $10+/- monthly and I do cook 2-3 times a week.

Macro water heater from citygas remote control have this EC error. Suspect the air con technician turned off the wrong switch for a long time and it lost connection with the remote control.

Any idea how to link the remote control to the heater again?
