Magnetic power charging connector

Hi,


My phone (Oppo A37), like many smartphones out there, comes with a micro-USB port and a micro-USB power charging cable. I suspect that with daily charging and plugging in and out, the connection tightness will eventually loosen. Not to mention breaking due to accidental tripping over/snagging.


Is there a magnetic connector-adaptor product out there that perhaps have 2 parts: one small magnetic component to plug into the phone's charging point (like those we plug into a laptop's USB port for wireless mouse), and another magnetic connector component to connect to the charging cable's original micro-USB connector. The 2 new magnetic connectors would then effectively replace the original charging points.


Being magnetic, there will then no longer be any worry about tripping/snagging/ loosening over time.


If such a product exist, where can I buy one in Singapore?

Indeed, Ports do loosen over time, but they have been tested extensively as well during the phone testing progress where cables are plugged and removed, plugged and remove to simulate actual real life conditions.

Did a quick check and I think the product you are referring to is this - reviews are mixed - with some stating slow charging etc.

i think u can do a search in qoo10, cos there is a few times i was buying some mobile accessories did come across such cable but nv buy. since my house have full of cables

Lots of those on qoo10 but they can impact the protection circuits.

Don't be so afraid of the USB port.

So cheap, I bought two, each $10, North Point basement m1 shop by Arrow (they also sell Samsung original power bank 5000mAh $19)

Last night head got so hot and spoil, I know because I have a USB charging meter shows no ampere

Note: magnet not super strong, carry your phone a bit, will drop off. I haven't tried data transfer

Went to North point, no stock. Bedok mall changed for me.

Changed one can't fast charge because one pin not present. And head stuck in my phone, took out but scratches, they don't want take out for me. Actually wrap it with cloth, then use pliers

Got refund for both

Sent web mail and email no response, receipt got head office number, website no number

Made in China just like oppo etc

Damn these looks good. But from what I know, the Wsken X-Cable Mini 2 is an excellent option as well. Cost less than iPhone but is extremely durable. Using them for a year now and it still looks brand new.

Can you explain more, what does impact protection circuit mean? Make the phone spoil?

Find online and buy, Can get USB Type A or USB Type C, with Micro USB or Type C or Lightning Port for plugging in the phone.

Useful for some case that is hard to plug in.
Some of the magnetic plugs even have option for longer tip, for casing that is hard to charge.

I wonder if the magnet head at the phone, if a metal plate is attracted to the magnet head connector pins there, will it short circuit the phone since the pins will be connected together?

Asking this as our coin can be attracted by magnet. If a coin is attracted to stick to the magnet connector not sure if ok. Sometimes coin can be near phone or accidentally in same pocket.

I used it a while on my XiaoMi Mi Mix with Type-C connector.
Discontinue as 2 things I don't like:
1. the plug protrude out even with casing
2. a slight movement can cause disconnection to charging.

Does the phone back need to attach a magnet plate?

If phone using phone case, can the magnetic power bank stick?

I've been using magnetic connectors for 1.5 years. Tried a few brands.

You get what you pay for.

The most reliable ones are those that cost about $12 to 17 on Aliexpress. Sometimes you can get it for about $8 on sale.

Anything cheaper doesn't work well or the magnets can't align properly.

I am using the type with a slight plastic protrusion on the plug. I will post pics later when I get home.

Wsken is also supposed to be good and seems to be more readily available compared to the ones I use.
