To put it plainly, it's just a ponzi scam.
Just sell quick then exit when there's an opportunity.

Maige wasn't even listed in PRC's crackdown list.
UB was also highlighted by the HK media and a lot of maige users jumped over to them. Yet they remain operational throughout the crackdown campaign.

Not that Maige don't see it coming, they knew it since the first crack down in June/July and another time in last year.
People paid higher premium for a service that has no backup plans.

They should at least let allow people to allow the box to be upgraded to a firmware to be a normal android box.
They prefer not to, probably because they wish to sell you a maige II.

To be fair to Maige, all the biggest China boys are down. Dont want to invest in another ubox, and then get caught in a Maige full recovery situation.

Ub have two playback apps for China and HK channels.
Even if ub don't last I won't feel terribly upset because I can use the box for other subs or free movie apps.

Iptv is already in spotlight and officially illegal in China.
HK broadcasters who have official rights to broadcast soccer matches are damn anal about them.

So there are no odds that any china iptv can recover permanently unless the law or regime change.
Unless they shift their servers overseas with encryption to all data out and all maige box has its own decoder. Like a starhub box.

The day will come one day but notnow.
If you are worried just buy a cheap box.
Himedia at $80 with HDTV sub is actually not much from a ub.

If watch alot of English shows can consider Netflix with a good 4k box and sub to smartdns

Was trying to watch NHK red and white song festival and U-box was stuttering on and off. For U-box is there any pause button to stop the channel briefly while buffering like Maige?

Got the following reply from MaigeTV.com
Not sure how true, but it does give a small glimpse of hope

Dear Customer!

The Maige TV service is experiencing server problems.

The factory is currently working on a permanent solution to prevent such issues in the future. Unfortunately this takes time and we haven't been given any exact date for the recovery. Just assurances that the service will be eventually restored.
The downtime period will be compensated with additional subscription once the service is restored.

We understand your frustration and apologize for the problems. The current issue affects most of the Chinese IPTV providers and many of those probably won't survive it. Maige is a big enough service though and will recover once the necessary steps are taken.
Until then we kindly ask you for patience.

PS: this is an automatic reply. Due to the volume of emails we are unable to answer individually unfortunately. Should you have specific questions or issues not related to the current problem please reply to this email.

The Maige TV service is experiencing server problems. This affects the live channels, VOD content should work fine.

Any way to access the menu without the network access to the server?
Trying to find a way to use it as a video player for USB drive but could not bring up the menu.

Was wondering if it's possible to install Kodi Linux on Maige, as it runs on Linux? Anybody tried before?

Btw, Zoe blogshop has deleted its facebook, websites as well........ Truly game over now?
