I set up Microsoft Exchange in my iphone mail app so i can access my office mails. Just noticed that it displays all sub folders by default which is a pain to navigate.

Android mail would collapse them by default and you had to expand them if u wanted to. Anyway to make it this way too for iphone mail?

I don't really understand the issue from the description.
But I use a free email app Acompli for my Exchange account, because
- It is a professional grade Exchange-friendly email client, with excellent support for multiple attachments, email threading, "Focus", schedule incoming emails, quick swiping gestures, etc.
- I use it only for my Exchange (work) account and keep all other (my personal email accounts) in Apple's native Mail app. Keep your life and work separate, amirite?
- I can use push notification for Acompli (since work is a higher priority) and turned off "Fetch New Data" for Mail (which I'm sure has more accounts) to conserve battery and data.

The Verge has a positive review if you want to see a second opinion.

Basically all the sub folders are expanded by default and I can't collapse them. Big problem because I have many folders and even more sub folders. When everything is expanded it takes forever to scroll down to the sub folder I want.

By right all the folders and sub folders should be collapsed and I just expand the one I want and after that collapse it myself. That's the case for Android mail app. In fact that's the case for the Yahoo and Gmail accounts.

But for some reason with MS Exchange in iPhone, all folders and sub-folders are expanded with no option to collapse them.

ok I see what you mean. yes you are right i don't think there is any way to fix it. alternatively, (am not allowed to attach screenshot yet so bear my description) if there are a few specific subfolders you want to quickly access, you can open Mail, tap Edit at the upper right corner; tap the "Add Mailbox…" option to go to your Exchange account and select the folders/subfolders you want to add to the menu for quicker access.
