Hi, my niece has a very old pc, intel core 2 dual mother board. But, unable to link to network when a cable plugged in. Wondering could this network point be repaired and roughly how much does it cost? Any other alternatives? Thanks.

u are referring to repairing the network point on the PC or the network point itself?

if PC, just go get a pcie network card, something like the link below
TPLink pcie network card

if you are referring to the network point itself, just get a keystone to replace.
Keystone

Thanks so much for the prompt replies.
I will try to get the PCie network card from Sim Lim next week. Hopefully, won’t be chopped by the sellers there.
Besides, I am thinking to help my Niece to connect the pc to the tv which require a HDMI output, what card should I get for that old pc in order to connect it to the tv?

Any 2nd hand graphic card lor.

If want first hand, might have to look around for GT 710 or GT 730 or GT 1030. These are super low end, costing about $50-70, literally not much capability other than to output display. That's all.

Can you please kindly share some tips, it’s a very old type of PC, not sure able to Chromecast to a tv.

1) buy a chromecast device Google Official Store (Can find cheaper alternative on Qoo10/Lazada/Shopee)
2) Plug in the chromecast device to your TV and connect to your network
3) Make sure that both the Chromecast and PC is connected to the same network
4) Open Google Chrome browser on PC, start to stream to TV

PCI-e network card you need to open up casing and install, if you are not confident enough just get a usb network adapter around $10 (TPlink, dlink etc), provided the PC is close to the router (< 5m, without wall blocking). PC show only sells $8.50 for 1 adapter.

For HDMI it is better to get second hand one from carousell, like the 8400GS at $5 or the GT610 at $20 etc.

No need to spend so much on an outdated LGA775 system. Might as well use the money to get second hand laptop (around $100-$200, core 2, i3 or i5) or refurbished HP i5 desktop or SFF from carousell.

good thing about chromecast is you can also use for your android/apple devices, not only for pc. It projects what you see on your phone to the tv

Guys, thanks so much for your contributions, felt warmed and greatly appreciated. Will try to get usb network adapter and the second hand graphic card.
If really not working , will take your advises to purchase the refurbished set from carousell.
Thanks and have a great weekend.
