So? Past experience means nothing as players can get better over time with more experience.

If he is a late bloomer like Vardy, Arsenal would have a good no 9 for the next couple of years.

Again we can only hope he is only able to perform under certain managers playing a certain style...and that Arteta is not one of them.

yes players do get better over time but just thinking he got higher probability to fail since he left because not suited for premier league with Brighton. :p Look at United Sancho..

But who knows he may turn up to be a Salah for Arsenal. :p

if the G-man works for Arsenal, all the best to them in the next season.
If the G-man doesnt work for Arsenal, all the best to them in fixing it next summer.

Man Utd seemed to be going round & round in circles trying to sign players & sell players. Other clubs (Liverpool, Arsenal & Chelsea) continue to sign players.

we should wish ourself all the best in fixing ETH's problem signings for the next couple of summers....
at the moment it looks unfixable for at least 2-3 seasons. Those problem players will more likely run out their contract and leave for free then join another team on a permanent basis.

Manchester United have seen their own self-imposed deadline to sign Bryan Mbeumo pass by without a deal getting done – giving Tottenham Hotspur renewed belief they could snatch the Brentford forward and amid fresh claims Daniel Levy hopes to thunder back into the race and will sell two stars to fund a renewed bid.

As a result, United chiefs had set themselves the target of getting a deal for Mbeumo over the line before Monday July 7 – the day their players return for pre-season training at their Carrington Complex.

However, with that self-imposed countdown now coming and going without a deal having been struck, there are suggestions brewing that the Red Devils could be forced to walk away from a deal for their priority target.

Man Utd better complete this deal fast before Tottenham joined in again. This may turned out to be same as the Mathys Tel situation in January when Man Utd failed to sign him & he ended up going to Tottenham.

Same news only the days & weeks had passed.

move on lah.

i don't recall haggling so long over a player and then him coming and make an instant impact.

look at Fellaini. look at Sancho. did they ever make any big positive impacts for us?

Watching this clown of a keeper smiling walking into our training ground laughing is a mockery to our fanbase costs us so many goals should have been sold

Successful clubs usually sign their players fast. To get them for pre-season training & integrate them into the team.

other teams over the decade are trying hard to catch up but utd owners are busy trying to take as much money as they can. now most teams have already caught up and some have already surpassed yet the owners are still the same.

come deadline then panic buy and start paying insane transfer fees or buy those injury prone unwanted players where they spend half the season in sick bay.

it can be done but it will generate ZERO profit.

set all these unwanted players at a price tag that match their outstanding current salary plus alpha..
Example : Onana still have 3 yrs of his contract to go at abt 6.2M per year which is about 18.6M ... so the club can accept a transfer price of 20M and used it to buy out Onana's remaining contract.

The way the transfer market works is that even if the club agrees on a transfer price... but the play can still have the final say if he is not happy with the personal term which is typically a higher salary compares to what he is currently getting now. So the only way to force a player out is to pay him off.. same treatment when releasing a mgr who is still under contract.

So by doing that we will be selling with no money to replace them.

And mgr have to resort to using U21s as subs.
The main players will get fatigue and injured eventually.

And player still has final say like you mention. Nobody will want a lower salary in their next club as it will affect their next salary after that even after we pay them off now.

They would rather hope that somehow they will start performing and is able to ask for a higher wage in their next contract with their next club as that club DOESN'T have to pay a transfer fee when the player runs his contract out at UTD.
