Bought a Dell laptop during my overseas trip. Since day 1 boot up take ages. Its i3 running on win 10. Lag is so bad that it can take 30 mins to get it running. There is no more warranty. Really heart pain as it cost ard 800 dollars. I even upgraded the ram to 8gb still no difference. Read feedback that this model is faulty model.

Bros will it be worth to send to service centre?
If not plan to get i7. Which shop or place to buy?
Thanks Experts.

Why dont just get to any repair shops (not by Dell)

Do you know what is the cause of the lag? May I check what hard drive is this laptop using? Based on my experience, a computer/ laptop will take a very long time to boot up into a usable state when you have a system using a mechanical drive and also Windows 10/11. Add some bloatware in the mix, and that lag/ slowness gets worst very quickly.

Not sure the cause. Using 1tb hdd but don't know the brand. One shop suggest I change to ssd to solve but not sure it will solve. They charging 250 plus

do u know which specific i3 is in your laptop? also, loading win 10 on a hdd is asking for a lot of lag.

thats more than double of what it should cost. 1tb 2.5" ssds are quite affordable nowadays.

Do you know the brand of this 1TB drive you are using? I have a strong feeling that this is a mechanical drive, and the root cause of this very bad experience you are having with the laptop. I am quite confident that swapping the drive to a solid state drive is going solve most of the slowness.

In my experiences, it is not just a lot of lag. It almost feels like the laptop is broken. No joke. First time I ran into this issue, that's my sis telling me her laptop is broken because it is extremely slow. When I did some troubleshooting for her, I thought it surely feels like it is broken because Windows is almost always unresponsive when you boot in. And it stays that way for a solid 15 mins or more before it finally reached a usable state. And at that point in time, that laptop was new, which I expect it to boot faster. :D

It's 10th gen i3, win 10
sorry to say but u rly kena chop carrot head ah, 10th gen i3 + 1tb hdd should be way less than 800.
anyway, still can fix, see if u can find 2.5" ssd for reasonable price. what i would suggest is maybe buy a super cheap ssd from carousell (~$20), install win 10 on it and run ur laptop on the ssd see if it makes a difference. once cfm is the hdd too slow, then can go and buy brand new ssd to permanently replace ur hdd. nowadays amazon sg have samsung 1tb ssd for 150.

For us to help you, can you state the model of the laptop? Telling us it's just Dell is not really helpful.

From here we can advise you what upgrades you can make on the laptop to hopefully ensure a smoother experience.

If you're using a HDD, upgrading to an SSD can cost less than $100. If you stay near Serangoon area, I can help you install also...
