From collider.com:

After years of development, filmmaker Edgar Wright’s adaptation of Ant-Man for Marvel is finally coming to fruition, and now it appears that Wright and the studio have narrowed down their choices for the titular lead role. Wright has been working on Ant-Man with Marvel for quite some time, and he co-wrote the script alongside Joe Cornish (Attack the Block) a few years ago. The director chose to write and direct this year’s excellent The World’s End before diving into the Marvel world, but now filming on Ant-Man is poised to get underway next year in anticipation of a July 2015 release date.

The folks over at Variety report that Gordon-Levitt and Rudd are the leading contenders to play Ant-Man, and both are poised to meet with Marvel execs and Wright one more time before a final decision is made. There’s also a possibility of one more actor being added to the mix, but right now Gordon-Levitt and Rudd are the frontrunners.

The two are contending for the role of Hank Pym, who in the comics was a brilliant scientist who invented a substance that gave him the ability to shrink in size at his will. Wright will no doubt be bringing his signature sense of humor to the film, and Gordon-Levitt and Rudd both seem like excellent choices to take on the lead role; it’s a win-win situation, really. Rudd was actually asked about the possibility of playing Ant-Man a couple of months ago, and the actor sounded enthusiastically game about the possibility.

Wright is apparently keen on casting a “normal looking actor” with a wise-cracking personality, and one can imagine either Rudd or Gordon-Levitt playing an excellent foil opposite Robert Downey Jr. or Chris Evans when Ant-Man eventually joins the Avengers team.

Reeds Richard was slapping her to awaken sue's genuine anger so that she could take control of her body back from Malice.

Jim Shooter the writer explained that it was an accidental hit, but the artist's drawing style unintentionally made it looked like he beat her on purpose.

Comic Book Resources Forums

He had better ways of helping Sue than to slap her.

That's a link of the numerous examples of Reeds being an asshole.

At least Hank Pym has repeatedly admitted his mistake (even to the verge of suicide) and apologized to Jan. What has Reeds Richard really done to make up for his mistakes?

From movieweb.com:
Last week, two separate rumors surfaced revealing that Paul Rudd and Rashida Jones are in contention to play Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne in Ant-Man. While no deals have been signed quite yet, a second report now claims that both actors are very close to signing on, and that it might actually be a "done deal" already.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is also being considered to play Hank Pym. The actor confirmed he was in discussions last week, but he wouldn't say that he had the role or not. Rashida Jones has been the only name mentioned so far for the Janet Van Dyne role, although it was revealed that her character will not turn into The Wasp. However, she will be Hank Pym's love interest and play a major supporting role.

Edgar Wright is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Joe Cornish, based on the Marvel comic books. No story details have been confirmed at this time.

Yes, very much so. He's one of my favorite super heroes, because he doesn't hide or run from his mistakes, but make up for them and aspire to be a better human.

icic.. still i dislike him cos of his ego issue.

It's just a front.

He isn't totally egoistic, he just gives such an image on the outside. It functions as both his motivation and drive.

In front of his allies, he likes to talk about his intelligence and brains, and boast about his skills etc. When he met Eternity however, and was to be made the 'Scientist Supreme' of Marvel, he outright admitted he wasn't as smart as Mr Fantastic. This speaks volumes of his character to me. That position is as prestigious as any title a scientist could ever hope to attain. And yet faced with this offer, Pym instead rejects it because he actually knows he isn't as good as he claims to be.

Anyway, Eternity still made Pym the scientist supreme.

As Hawkeye (another egoistic and sarcastic superhero) would put it, "It isn't brashness if you can back it up."

When Norman Osborn became the leader of Hammer, and had his own Dark Avengers team. Hawkeye managed to sneak into his building, and took out Bullseye, Venom and Daken(son of Wolverine, has defeated Logan and Deadpool more than once). In fact, he would have killed Norman Osborn if not for Ares (The GOD of War) stopping him.

Hawkeye has served as the leader of multiple superhero teams. Usually when Steve Rogers is not around, Hawkeye will serve as the leader of the Avengers.

In fact, after Steve Rogers died, Hawkeye was Shield's first choice to be the next Captain America. And he mastered usage of the shield immediately after wielding it. Ultimately he turned down the role as he felt it was disrespectful to the original Captain America.

Hawkeye is also able to use Pym Particles, but he only uses it in special situations. In a way, you can consider that his super power.

Lastly, during the JLA vs Avengers crossover, it was Flash and Hawkeye who were the final surviving heroes to defeat the villain and save both Marvel and DC.

From comingsoon.net:

Rumored for the role since earlier this year, Paul Rudd is Marvel Studios' choice to headline Ant-Man! The Wrap reports that the Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues star will play Hank Pym in the July 31, 2015 release.

Set to begin production early next year in Georgia, Ant-Man will be directed by Wright, who co-wrote the script with Joe Cornish (Attack the Block).

Although there's no assurance yet that it remains the case, Wright's original plans for the film called for both Pym and the later Ant-Man of the comics, Scott Lang, to appear in the feature.

"The idea that we have for the adaptation is to actually involve both... Henry Pym and Scott Lang," Wright told SuperHeroHype some years ago. "So you actually do a prologue where you see Pym as Ant-Man in action in the 60's, in sort of 'Tales to Astonish' mode basically, and then the contemporary, sort of flash-forward, is Scott Lang's story, and how he comes to acquire the suit, how he crosses paths with Henry Pym, and then, in an interesting sort of Machiavellian way, teams up with him."

The film, which is supposed to launch "Phase Three" of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will follow Avengers: Age of Ultron's May 1, 2015 release.

From deadline.com:

Michael Douglas has become the second major casting for Ant-Man, the Disney/Marvel movie that stars Paul Rudd. Douglas, fresh off his Golden Globes win last night for Behind The Candelabra, will play Hank Pym, who first appeared in the comic in 1962. Pym is a scientist who was first Ant-Man then became Giant-Man, Goliath, and Yellowjacket in the comic’s mythology; no word on which persona Douglas’ Pym will take per the announcement unveiled today on Marvel.com. “With Hank Pym’s rich history in the Marvel Universe, we knew we needed an actor capable of bringing the weight and stature to the role that the character deserves,” said Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige in the post. “We felt incredibly relieved when Michael Douglas agreed to step into the part with the charm and fortitude he brings to every character he inhabits, and couldn’t be more excited to see what he will do to bring Hank Pym to life.” Edgar Wright is directing the superhero pic, which is due out July 31, 2015.

He isn't directing Ant-Man anymore. Edgar Wright is the only reason I would have watched this.

Now it's some joker called Peyton Reed.

Yes, Edgar Wright left the project due to "creative differences". It seems that his vision for the Ant-Man movie would not integrate well with the larger Marvel universe.

What a waste. His trademark kinetic directing style would have taken the Marvelverse in a new direction. Now all we are stuck with is a series of movies fronted by different people but looking hell of a lot similar.
