Hail fellow folks,

Time to upgrade my old rig, this time to a small mATX due to space constraints

Purpose:
- Running few instances of R/Matlab simulation
- Gaming
- General surfing/youtube

Constraints:
- Depth/Length of the Casing preferably < 350mm. I think Silverstone SG09 is nice
- Budget $900 - $1300 (still open)

Don't Need:
- Optical drive
- SSD (nice to have, but I think I can skip)

All recommendations welcome :s12:

MSI b85m g43 + i5-4570 ~ $356
Kingston value ram 8gb ~ $81
WD blue 1tb ~ $81
Plextor m5s ~ $139
Palit gtx760 2gb + fsp aurum 550w platinum ~ $399
Fractal design mini ~ $129

Total $1185 build at tradepac. Your budget can fit in a ssd. That's why I include it in. And sg09 is damn expensive for that case. $169 just not worth he price of a Marx chassis.

Thank you, Royfrosty.

Would you suggest a dual 8g Ram or a better branding Ram ?

other matx casings such as N200 and 350D can also be in your budget. But casings is always each buyers choice :)

Heres a sample of size comparison of the casings @ my place

from left to right, N200, 350D and Full Tower 800D

It is your choice. If you are those type whom wanna take a look inside your case for aesthetics look you can go ahead get the gskills ripjaws 1600mhz 2x4gb at $95.

Performance wise you wont feel much difference.

Garfield82,

Thanks for the pic. But I am quite constrained on the Length/depth of the casing. At most 350mm... Cant tolerate any longer.

Royfrosty,
Good point. Noted, perhaps I go for x2 8gb.

If die die need a small matx chassis, can take a look at Jonsbo casing. [New Arrivals!] Jonsbo all models [Stocks in]
The U3 and the V4 supports matx mobo and gpu, but make sure to check the length of the gpu and see if it fits on the casing.

Also got the Bitfenix Prodigy M, but have a depth of 359mm.
