Was trying out the 9313 firmware on my RT AC68U.

Noticed that with reboot of the router, I occasionally will get disconnected from the Internet. There will be no Wifi service too. I could only get the connection back with a second reboot.

I happen to enable scheduled reboot every day at 0400 HRS.

Any bros out there experience the same thing?

Is this a firmware issue?

Dear wychong,

Can you try do a restore to factory default?

Best regard,
JK

I also same symptom. I did HW reset + restore factory default from Web GUI. But same. Got problem especially i am doing my works from home. Intermittently got internet disconnection. I called M1 and they traced from their end. CSO told me as connection to modem is ok and asked me to check with router. I am now thinking to test with direct connection to modem with cable from my PC but need time to move to my desktop to living room to try out. If others are happening same means, I think this FW may cause such bugs?

Hi All, I would also like to report the same, intermittent disconnection to Singtel 500M, using 9313. This problem surfaced almost the same day 9313 was installed, router reset and reconfigured.

RT-AC68U_3.0.0.4_378_8956 was so much better, with about one month of uptime and no reboots needed.

Hi guys, my RT68U is seeing very slow wired LAN download speed.

I am on Starhub Fibre 500 plan. ONT is connected to RT68U then to desktop PC via LAN. On Speedtest.net via Chrome browser, my download is 30+mbps and upload is 450+mbps. So cable issue can be ruled out cos download can hit 450+mbps.

Using Speedtest app on my LG G4 on 5Ghz wifi, I can get 250+mbps both down and up.

Using my new Lenovo laptop on 5Ghz wifi, i can hit 450+mbps both down and up.

Tried h/w reset + clearing NVRAM no diff, tried QoS on/off no diff, updated to latest 9313 firmware, tried off/on NAT acceleration no diff, tried installing latest Realtek driver for mobo-LAN no diff.

Help please. :)

use your laptop lan port to test. you need to isolate the problem if it is your desktop, cable or router.

your internet should be good.

Tks for reply. I hooked up a usb3 with Ethernet to my laptop and could hit 450+ both up and down. This means my desktop LAN is faulty or maybe win8 misconfig.

I tried removing the old driver and installed latest ones. Even deleting all existing network profiles in registry but nothing works. Download still stuck at 30+ while upload still good at 450+.

What's even more weird is i tried the usb3 to Ethernet on my desktop and i got exactly the same 30+ down 450+ up! Not sure what else i can do except buy a wifi adapter and use it on my desktop, which it's kinda stupid...

Any other advice guys?

Did you try to disable antivirus and firewall on your desktop?

Sent from the darknet using GAGT

I didn't disable antivirus and firewall when testing speed. Before this slow LAN episode, i was on starhub fibre200 and without disabling both i could get 200mbps both up and down so unlikely they're the culprit.

I got firewall and DOS protection, AI protection set to on in the router config. Would these have any effect?

Problem most likely in your desktop since your laptop can hit 450.

Yes it's definitely the desktop but I cant figure out why...

I've done some further tests and first I had cleared the browser cache history on Chrome + disabled firewall and antivirus before testing:

- these made little diff, 50+ down and 450+ up.
- tested using usb3 with ethernet LAN adaptor on lenovo laptop I can get 450+ up and down.
- immediately took out the usb3 ethernet adaptor and plug into a usb3 port on my desktop and test = measly 2mbps then time-out. Yes getting worst...
- immediately took out usb3 ethernet adaptor from desktop and plug into laptop it hits 450+ up and down again! Really weird...

Starhub's IP address remained the same throughout the tests.

I've updated my mobo drivers, usb3 drivers but they made no diff. I think only way to enjoy highspeed network on my desktop is to buy a wifi adaptor... sigh...

Tks for advice on the NIC but perhaps I should totally avoid wired stuff? Maybe time to change mobo.

i dont think it is your mobo.

another thing to do, you probably need to connect your desktop to any router. to see if its anything on the router side that is limiting your access OR if its the software side of your desktop.

Ok i've connected desktop direct to ONT via Cat5e LAN cable meaning without any router and I got 50+mbps down and 480+mbps up.

So confirm it's software side, which I have no idea where else to look at. I've also used a different browser (IE11) to test and I got exactly the same throughput.

I've downloaded Realtek's ethernet diagnostic utility and ascertained that cable has no problem, driver is latest available, and all other LAN tests came back as normal.

Really weird...

EDIT: I've managed to resolve it, somehow... I deleted the latest Realtek LAN drivers and installed a March 2015 older version and now it can do close to 500mbps both up and down. However, this appears to be not consistent. If I were to switch off ONT and router then switch them back on, it goes back to the 30+mbps down, 450+mbps up. Driver issues then. Let me google how to completely remove all traces of the drivers and reinstall.

What Gum experienced above is precisely the reason why I always install bare minimal drivers for all the components in my pc.

Anything that is not needed for the part to function will not not be installed to minimize any conflicts
