on the non wireless side of things, is the ac66u a worthy upgrade from the 56U?

Singapore firbe not going stay max at 300mbps and in future they going improve higher speed. So getting RT-AC66U is just for future proof

Any idea when will there be a firmware fix for Viewqwest IPv6? Is Asus actually working on a fix or dropped the ball on this one?

Is there a bug?

Can provide me? i don't have viewqwest to test

Viewqwest provides Static IPv6 addresses. The LAN IP addresses they provide are with the /48 prefix which the router doesn't support but it works fine when a /64 prefix is used and it assigns ipv6 addresses to clients on my network. I'm also able to ping the LAN gateway.
The problem however is that i am unable to ping the WAN gateway from the router and im unable to connect to ipv6 sites as a result. Im using the latest .374_130 FW.
FYI, i connected my laptop directly to the VQ Zhone ONT and manually assigned the WAN IPv6 and i was able to connect with no issues.

According to Merlin's notes on the .374 firmware, there is now an IPv6 firewall which is enabled by default.

Probably a major issue that prevented this router from being safely usable on an IPv6 connection - until now. There is now an IPv6 firewall configurable under Firewall -> IPv6 Firewall. By default this new firewall will be ENABLED. That means if you previously relied on the fact that there was no firewall on the IPv6 network to allow remote access to computers on your LAN, you will now have to configure the appropriate firewall rules on that new tab.

Bear in mind that this is quite different from what you are used with IPv4. In IPv4, by default no device is reachable because of NAT. You have to open a port, which will allow connection on your router IPv4 to be forwarded to the selected computer.

With IPv6, every device on your network gets its own, fully routable IPv6. Instead of forwarding ports, you will be opening ports in the firewall, specifying the IPv6 IP of the target computer. That also means that, when connecting (or testing with a port scanner) to that open port, you have to use the computer's IP, not the WAN IP.

i installed Merlin's latest FW .374_32 and it still doesnt work unfortunately. Reading previous posts from you, i get that you have a AC66u and your VQ activation is tomorrow? :D
If you get your IPv6 working on your router, pls let me know.. thanks.

I'll try. I'm a network dummy, so might not be able to get any results.

Did you open the ports on the IPv6 firewall?
