my own findings indicate that increasing transmission power =/= increase range/wifi throughput.
I've been using 100 since N66U days
i bump up the tx to max on my 5Ghz too

Did you experienced any issues while using your previous ASUS RT-N56U before changing to the ASUS RT-AC66U?
Just use the exact settings on the RT-N56U (VLAN tagging values) on the ASUS RT-AC66U. I suspect you might have to use the clone mac address function in order to run.
Yes, you will need to use Dlink RG for VOIP as ASUS routers don't have RJ11 port, or the easiest way is just call Starhub to make arrangements to untag all services so you can just plug your telephone (ONT telephone port 1) and the ASUS RT-AC66U (ONT-LAN1 ~ router WAN) directly to the ONT without having to input VLAN settings.
HW acceleration is only disabled for RMerlin's firmware only for ASUS RT-N66U, ASUS RT-AC66U when IPv6 is running not VLAN tagging.
As for ASUS RT-AC56U HW acceleration is enabled even IPv6 is running![]()
Which RMerlin firmware are you actually using? 3.0.0.4.372.30.2? 3.0.0.4.372.31.0?

Thanks for taking time to reply maylyn.
Previously when using RT-N56U, no problems at all to be honest.
Used the same settings including the MAC Address and Host name.
I only subscribed to Starhub Fibre and HubTV, no VOIP.
Just tried MAC Clone to my AC66U. Internet is still working fine without HW Acceleration. But once i enable HW Acceleration, internet not able to use again. But still able to ping google.com using the Router's Network Tool.
Currently using 3.0.0.4.372.31 firmware by RMerlin.
IPv6 was also not enabled. Really pulling hair on this one.
If I were to use RT-AC66U as access point, do I connect the router to RT-AC66U WAN port or LAN port?

The new report details 56 new Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures, or CVEs, that Holcomb and the other ISE researchers have found in popular routers. These include the Asus RT-AC66U, D-Link DIR-865L, and TrendNet TEW-812DRU, for which Holcomb plans on demonstrating vulnerabilities at Defcon on Saturday and Sunday.
Need some help.
My Singnet Fibre 300Mbps just connected today. Need some info about this router. I managed to get 300 mbps from the singnet tech support speed test with the default router (Aztech 7000) given by Singnet.
But when I hook it up with RT-AC66, I only managed to obtain 250mbps at max (wired). Do I need some tweak in the RT-AC66? or some others issue. Thank you.
Did u use Chrome? Somehow, when using Chrome, even wired speed was maxed out and I cannot go to the full maximum, but when I tried Firefox I could reach the full subscribed bandwidth.. go figure..
RT-AC66U is mentioned in this article. Just curious did the latest firmware fixed these issues mentioned? Or we must wait for another firmware to get them fixed?

ASUS RT-AC66U firmware version 3.0.0.4.372
Fixed:
1. Fixed AiCloud vulnerability related bugs.
Asuswrt-Merlin 3.0.0.4.372.31 is out
A new build of Asuswrt-Merlin is now available for download. This build saw the core code merged with the recent final 372 release from Asus (I was previously using a very early version of the 372 code branch).
This update includes the AiCloud security fixes - upgrading to this version ASAP is STRONGLY recommended if you use AiCloud.
Good to know that.ASUS RT-AC66U firmware version 3.0.0.4.372 and RMerlin 3.0.0.4.372.31 have already fixed the ASUS AiCloud vulnerability related bugs
Hmm... I need you to do a few things,
Can you perform a few local speedtest runs? (without HW acceleration, since having HW acceleration enabled will disabled your Internet usage) and what is your subscribed Starhub Fiber speed?
Can you copy and paste your router system logs and quote as well? so i can forward it to RMerlin to take a look
PS ~> did you post what you are experiencing @ the Starhub Fiber thread as well? and QoS off?
Currently my linksys e4200 is placed in the living room TV console

The middle room has only 1~2 bars of signal
Main bedroom almost zero connection
didnt expect a $200+ router cannot cover a small area (and didnt expect walls to be so good at diluting wifi signals)

agree..Err, I have never liked linksys product, their wireless always is an issue in my experience, but then take note that most of our walls nowsaday comes with mixed in materials for sound-proofing which will affect signal penetration.
Position of router is also important. I think U can try to extend ur wireless with cabled connection ard the house n have it covered with APs
i am just wondering did anyone try to put more antenna by using splitter?
