Hi Asus@sg, I tried to use the AIcloud and found that the usb is not detected.
I've already tried with 3 usb thumbdrive, 2gb usb2.0, 4gb usb2.0 and 32gb usb3.0.
All the thumb drives showed they are unmount in the network page.
When I click usb applications -> ai disk, it says no usb detected.
I've googled and it seems like there is such reported issue by other pple at other countries.
Has the issue been fixed?

Thanks.

Need some advice here. I keep my N66U inside my storeroom, where my fiber TP is. Due to this, the range can't cover the far end of my kitchen, common toilet. I would like to make use of my old esr9850 to extend the wifi range.

If I use that in repeater mode, I actually do not need to change any setting on N66U, am I right?

RMerlin's new IPv6 alpha builds based on dnsmasq and odhcp6c.

More @ ~> http://forums.smallnetbuilder.com/showthread.php?t=21137

Howdy folks,

I just uploaded test builds of Asuswrt-Merlin. While these are based on 376_3626, the main goal of this test build is to try out the new IPv6 code, which has been enabled in these builds.

Builds are available for all models except for the RT-AC87U, as I don't have compatible versions of the closed source binaries matching the 3626 GPL code.

Test builds have been uploaded to this folder:

https://www.mediafire.com/folder/ftf9kjixr1a5f//Misc

This build replaces the current IPv6 code based on radvd + rdnssd in favor of a new architecture based around dnsmasq and odhcp6c. These new userspace services are generally more modern, and probably also cleaner. Asus wrote that code in the past couple of months, but they haven't enabled it yet in their official releases (the current beta RT-AC87U is the first time I've seen them enable it).

So, I am mostly interested in seeing user feedback regarding IPv6 support. Make sure to mention the following info with your feedback:

  • Your ISP
  • The type of IPv6 connection (Native, 6rd, 6in4 tunnel, etc...)
  • If you had any issue with previous firmware versions
  • How this one is working out for you

(for those of you who are new around - yes, the thread title is silly. It's an old tradition when I release such test builds to go with a rather original build name / motto. :) )

My RT-N66U router is currently on 3.0.0.4.376_3657 stock firmware.

Currently subscribed to MR Pure HD 150Mbps.

I did a speedtest by connecting the LAN cable from Nucleus Connect ONT direct to notebook LAN point and got close to 140~150Mbps.

Then I connected the LAN cable from ONT to router WAN port, and from connecting a LAN cable from Port 1 of router to the notebook LAN point.

I got speeds of only 90Mbps~100Mbps. This is almost a 30% drop.

Are there any settings I need to tweak to get a better wired speed?

Due to wireless congestion at my place, I am only getting 20~30Mbps speeds when on wireless.

Any way to improve wired/wireless speeds?

Not sure if the Hardware Acceleration on the N66 has anything to do with the speed, why not turn it on and give it a try for the wired speed.

Laptop is unable to negotiate gigabit link speeds.
can be due to cable or laptop nic.

OS used?
LAN cable specification? cat 5/5e/6?
drivers for lan? updated to the latest?

I have revert back to 374.43

Just chanced upon this thread.

Am currently on 3.0.0.4.376_1071 stock. Experiencing wireless slowness on 2.4GHz in my room after about a day's of usage. Not sure why. After rebooting seem to help a bit.

Am looking to flash to ASUS Merlin firmware, perhaps to 374.43 as it can set TX power to >80mW.

How do i go about flashing? Do i need to revert to any 3.0.0.4.374.xxx stock firmware first before flashing to 374.43 ASUS Merlin?

I presume i would be able to manually set the VID for LAN 4 for my Mio TV to work still? Advice appreciated. :)

I am now on 3.0.0.4_376.48_3 Flashing is as per normal firmware upgrade tab. Think you need to manual on this fw. Mio TV just choose special ISP profile Singtel-others. It's there since very very long time ago.

Performance pretty good.

thanks for the reply buddy. What is your experience with the stock FW and ASUS Merlin?I will try to run the update tonight, hope it helps with my current issue.

I have very unstable connection in my master bedroom after moving to a new place. I'm thinking it is due to the concrete wall of my store room that is blocking the signal from the router to my room. Doing a speedtest (on SN 200Mbps), i get spotty download speeds of around 2-4Mbps, upload is about 15-20Mbps.

Yes, unless you use WDS, then you can only use OPEN/WEP encryption if you are using stock firmware.

2.4GHz should be fine. Try the merlin firmware and see if it helps. Stock Asus always have bugs so I always wait for Merlin version. Buggy ones like the previous 2 versions from Merlin were quickly rectified. The readme file very detail so you can see the difference of the Merlin vs stock.

Sometimes the signal strength is affected by the firmware esp the 5GHz.

Browsing the net is okay but streaming in the master bedroom might be a challenge.

Hi, I just updated my N66U to the latest firmware, and realised that the 5GHz signal seems to have problem.

Initially after updating the firmware, the 5GHz signal was picked up and connected to by my phone and desktop. However the next day, the 5GHz SSID couldn't be found by both phone and desktop, left with only the 2.4GHz SSID.

Anyone else encountering this issue, and any ways to solve it?

I seem to be having my downloads at half speed compared to my uploads. Am on Singtel 300mbps. Wired direct to the n66u, I get 150 plus download and 290plus on speedtest. If I try a usa server I get maybe 20-30 in downloads and 50-60 in uploads. Same goes for 2.4 or 5g. My downloads is always around half the speed of my uploads speed. Like 70-80 download and 150 uploads. I disabled vpn, iCloud etc etc. so not sure what else I can do. Anyone can advise what may be the issue?

Dear kinbalight,

Please provide us your 5Ghz settings.

Best regard,
JK

I'm having the same issue as kinbalight. Constant connection drop on 5Ghz only. Tried to play around changing the settings (control channels and channel bandwidth) but still no result. Only stable on 20Mhz channel bandwidth, but I've got only half speed with 20Mhz (217Mbps instead of 450Mbps)

Initially I was suspecting the WIFI issue with Yosemite on Retina MBP, but after further testing on iPhone 6, the same issue happen.
