My 128GB SSD (2014 MBA) is low on space. Can apple change this to a 256GB drive? I don't want to hack this. (It's still under warranty so I don't want to void this.) I seem to recall that they cannot but I'll ask anyway.

When I look at "storage" bar graph, I see movies take up over 13GB. Where the heck is this? Is it my years of iphone .mov videos?

Where can I go to move that off my my MBA and onto an external drive? I prefer to not move my photos off as I need some on the MBA.

Thanks!!

current 3rd party SSDs like Transcend/OWC do not support your 2014 MBA. u can try calling Apple to see if they offer any upgrade path, unlikely but worth a try. else another way is to buy off ebay from sellers selling bigger SSDs taken from 2014 MBAs.

Go to your Finder and from the sidebar click on 'All my files'. Your files will be sorted according to size, and any duplicates will appear there also so you can just delete them off.

Don't forget to clear your trash to actually free up space.

Alpha...I can't see the "all my files" folder in the sidebar. Is is under something thing else? Or maybe I don't know how to show all side bar items?
UPDATE: ok found it and it helped a bit. But I will still need to "off load" some files.

Again, the storage bar graph indicates that I have 13GB of movies. But it's not in my movie folder and i have nothing in itunes. So I'm confused by this.

Thanks,

Limpe, Thanks. I'll look into this.

I mentioned that my storage bar graph shows I have 13GB of movies. I would like to find what this is and off load it to a external drive.

Under "about this Mac" > storage it gives you a a bar graph to show much free space you have and what is using that space. In yellow it shows 13GB as movies. But I'll be darned if I can figure that out. I don't have downloaded movies. I don't know of any location on my mac that would allow me to just off load this to an external disc.

if you want to free up more space, use some free apps like monolingual https://ingmarstein.github.io/Monolingual/ to delete away unwanted language packs in your MBA.

for even more savings, you can (1) force-delete those unused system apps like Mail, iTunes, Maps, iBooks, Garage Band, etc. and (2) delete recovery partition if present. of course you have to know what you're doing when doing these irreversible changes.

Thanks for the suggestions. I haven't tried omnidisk yet but I'll look into it.

Couldn't I off load photos and iphone videos in Photo to an external hard drive? I think this would help a lot. Anyway good way to do this?

Neuble....I tried monolingual and it worked fine. It says I saved over a GB which is worthwhile for sure considering I'll never use Swahili or Urdu.
