Wonder anyone has this issue - booted my MBA and took longer than usual, then screen turned grey and rebooted again. This time it asked for the Pin Code.

Didn't even remember setting any, anyway tried several ones and it got locked, initially 1 min, then 5 min etc.

Google but seems like common issues arise from locking from iCloud for stolen Macs etc. My set been in use easily 2 years and never have any issues, and never use iCloud too.

(1) Does it mean HDD up lorry?
(2) If so, could I just change out the HDD and re-install everything? Thank you.

Did you buy the mac new or from another user?

You'll need to bring it in to an Apple Authorised Service Provider to remove the firmware password lock

refer to following articles:
- MacBook Air (Late 2010) and later, MacBook Pro (Early 2011) and later, iMac (Mid 2011) and later, Mac mini (Mid 2011), Mac Pro (Late 2013): Recovering a lost firmware password - Apple Support
- iCloud: Use Lost Mode

Before bringing in down to an AASP, please call AppleCare first to log a case and also discuss charges if your mac is already out of warranty(especially if you're requesting for an exception).

You may want to inform the AppleCare advisor that you bought the Mac 2nd hand before being referred to an AASP. Provide any documentation or proof of purchase if necessary.
