anyone has solution to allow MBP mid 2010 with Mavericks to run Bootcamp and install Windows 7 with USB? i have tried to redo my Mac OS to Mountain Lion but still unable to use Bootcamp to install Windows via USB.
I encountered this problem helping a friend to install Bootcamp from a USB drive. What I did was I did not use Boot Camp Assistant to partition the Mac HD. Also, did you copy the ISO to the external drive or did you create a bootable disk image?
Steps as follows.
1. Partition HDD using Disk Utility, create a second partition called BOOTCAMP in FAT32 format.
2. Downloaded and installed rEFIt, which allows the MBA to boot up to external USB drives.
3. Unplugged all other USB drives except the external drive that contains the Win7 ISO
4. Booted to Win7 ISO and then formatted partition4 BOOTCAMP under Custom Install > Advanced drive options
5. Selected the BOOTCAMP partition to install Win7 on.
6. Win7 should install as per normal, and MBA will automatically restart and boot into Win7.
7. Install the Boot Camp support drivers as well.
