Anyone uses those micro SD adapter to expand on storage? Thinking of getting the base 128GB model and use microSD as an option to host media files.

Saw comments that hibernate will have issues due to mount and un mount of drives and may drain battery.

I'm using a Samsung 64GB Pro MicroSD with my rMBP 13 (early 2015) to store all my data including media files.

It's basically inserted on a permanent basis with a Nifty minidrive adapter.

Works perfectly.

Sounds good. Was looking at Niffy as well.

Thanks

It is not available on the apple store guess they stop selling..

You're right. Looks like it's gone after they revamped their online store.

You can get it from Amazon (ship via freight forwarder) or directly from Nifty.

... or perhaps you can check with the local retailers. I'm sure some of them will have it.

For some users (eg. myself), it's pointless to pay a huge premium for additional ultra-fast storage just to store data & media files (for playback only, not editing).

That's why I bought the 128GB base model and still have >50% free space & that's after taking into consideration the 30GB Win 10 bootcamp partition :s13:

Do understand that there are a lot of other people out there who are not the same as you and your needs. ;)

$300 for 128GB more SSD? That will be 20% cost of the machine. No thanks :)

i am already on 512 ssd with maxed ram.

i split it into half for bootcamp.

the reason for considering SD card is so that i can share data between the two partition more easily.
