Media to Business

When I was in poly, i was in Multimedia & animation in np. It was actually my 7th choice. First 6 choices was business related courses but couldnt get in due to poor O's result (L1B4 = 15) Didn't really liked my course but since I can't get into any business related course so I stayed on.

Obviously I did not score well for my first year and was thinking of quitting, but I did not due to my age. (went thru sec 5, dun wan to waste another year.) Finally make it thru the whole course but scored badly. (gpa 2.4)

Now 24 years old, just ORD not long ago, applying to SIM UOL Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Business and Management. Just wondering if I would survive this course since It's totally unrelated to the course that I studied in my poly days.

You'll be fine. Lots of JC students with zero background in business take up SIM UOL degrees when they cant make it to local uni biz courses. Its very doable.

You will definitely be able to survive the course as long as you truly have interest in business. You may wish to look up Coursera, EdX and FutureLearn for free online business courses to have a taster of university level studies.

GPA 2.4 is kind of in the dangerous zone, I suggest you also apply to other business degrees in SIMGE, example Buffalo, Birmingham, Manchester, Stirling, Southampton and Sheffield.
- some of the degrees may request that you take up their bridging courses due to your non-relevant diploma.

Do also consider applying to ranked business degrees from Kaplan and PSB.
This way you can have a wider choice when the offers start coming in. Give yourself a chance to choose if possible.

ohh..thanks for the replies..yea..will study hard this time since it's my last chance already.. im just worried cause i have zero background in business modules and i didn't take A-maths when i was in sec sch

SIM-UOL is definitely doable if you study hard enough and put in lots of effort. Although a lot of people say that it is tough and they switch to RMIT in the end, but for those who persevere will def be able to make it and grad with the SIM-UOL deg. It's a good choice because UOL degs are starting to gain more recognition in the public sector as well and they are internationally recognised and come from a prestigious uni. Hope this helps
