Hi all

I have an existing Basic NTUC medishield cover which I bought quite some time ago. I had a review with my agent and I would like to upgrade it to Preferred.

However, thing is over the last year my GP has commented that I have raised blood pressure during my visits for other common ailments. He didn't see it necessary for me to take medications. Only asked me to monitor.

My agent said that I can still upgrade, but NTUC might exclude me for BP related items for the preferred plan, but i can still fall back on my old shield full coverage if I need to in future. Is this true?

Unlikely. However, as long as you are not taking medication, your high blood pressure shouldn't be a problem. If you don't have high blood pressure in the past way when you bought the policy, i don't see why you can't do the upgrade

Sorry, guess I didn't phrase properly. I'll try again.

I bought my basic Medishield in 2007. This has full coverage as I was cleared of everything.

Then in 2012, GP commented my BP seems a little high during my visit for colds and headache. About 140ish/70.

In 2014, I want to upgrade my medishield, and my agent said that I can still upgrade but with BP exclusion. Assuming that I take the special offer, ie without privilege coverage for BP related problems, if I get BP related problem em in future, I can still fall back on my basic medishield cover which I bought in 2007. My agent says this is because it is unfair to exclude me from something which was already covered previously, albeit at a lower level.

I would like to confirm this understanding. It seems reasonable to me. I would not upgrade if this means I will get zero cover for BP related problems in future.
