Lol, is that even possible???

Why not. Base already 1709.

I don't know why anyone will be so skeptical about it

Tell you, you will still continue to use your pc what

What you want is to be vigilant not fearful.

I would hold off any purchase until a new batch is released, unless I really need a PC now.

oic thx :)
btw wat will happen if install mb bios tat contains "patched" intel microcode, then in linux/ubuntu install update which reverts to older microcode...?

result is older microcode, or whichever is installed later?

I'll just uninstall the microcode once I have it patched at the hardware level :s13:

Bios microcode updated to latest including software patch from Microsoft. However, disabled the software patch from Microsoft and that made it better. I did lose around 5-7fps consistently as it dipped below 90fps. After I disabled the patch, it was much better with FPS around high 90s to low 100s.

I am quite sure another round of bioses will come out but not sure to what extent they will affect performance at hardware level this time. It is quite scary to think of it. If Intel already has a **** storm with PC's rebooting, they may cripple all the PC's just to ensure a wide fix for everyone. I will wait and see this time around.

yeah thx, aware of tat
so far if no stability problem then its fixed for us, but with performance penalty

i wud wait many yrs for new redesign architecture, before upgrading cpu
the upcoming silicon fix, dunno if is just fix vulnearability, OR fix and get back good performance

Yeah even upcoming Icelake may not really "fix" this problem. Requires a complete architecture overhaul. But then again if the processor is fast enough, I guess should be fine. You see even this meltdown and spectre has the biggest performance drop on older processors so I think it should not really matter much. But then again remains to be seen.
