Hi
Any recommendation cert for those person in the field for desktop services, HelpDesk etc.

Don know where to start from. Thanks

It depends on what type of support you render at the HelpDesk. If you are the IT Helpdesk Team at organization supporting the backend IT infrastructure, it will be good to get Microsoft Certification on either client operating system such as Windows 7/Windows 8(Wait for it releases).

Knowledge of Networking/Voice is a plus if the company or environment you are supporting has those deployed.

What if front line that help users resolve issue like in house sw, create small LAN, share folders, troubleshoot HW n etc.

Should I take MCSA, MCSE n MCITP?

The foundation would still be at MCSA. MCSE is geared towards more specialize into Microsoft specific technology/product.

While you may be all around Microsoft at this point of time, you may want to consider certification from CompTIA too.

Which Certification is Right for You?

"Good" is very subjective. The training center that I prefer may not be to your liking. So the best is, just cherry pick some training center and then choose your ideal package from them.

Cheers.

From what I know of others who are pursuing the Expert / Master level, they all self-study. Didn't attend any course as long as they have the material.

For the course, yes, on the last day of the course, after the morning briefing, everyone will prepare for the exam and then give it a good shot.

Its probably recommended that you do a little personal study by reviewing the syllabus and the ITIL service lifecycle publications covered under the official ITIL OSA syllabus in preparation for the examination.

You can only do that for Foundation. Intermediate and Expert level must go for course.

Unless you belong to an accredited training provider. Then can self-study and take exam.

I got my ITIL V2 (2009) & V3 Expert (2010), and I can tell doing self-study for ITIL certification is very tough. A good ITIL trainer can really help a lot, not only in giving real world experience but also how to prepare and pass the exam. Passing exam, like job interview, is a skill which does not relate much to how competent you are in your domain knowledge.

If you want to move away from low-to-mid level jobs, getting ITIL certified is one way to management level role. And do it fast before the competition heats up.

I am starting my course today. I did Self study until operation processes, event management only. Not easy to understand the whole 17x pages of book.. Luckily I am in helpdesk desktop for long and have been undergoing the ticketing system, I can accept what they explained in the text.
