Memory Display Wrongly?

Hi guys i need help.

I have total 4 Ram slots on my M5A99X EVO 2.0 mobo. And im on 64bit Windows 7 ultimate.

I have installed it on Slot 2 and 4 from left to right.

However i just realized that in OS i can see 8gb installed, 4gb usable only.

In Bios i also see the same thing 4gb only.

So far i have tried both rams for each slot. It can boot up well except for the last slot 4.

But in Bios it can detect both of the rams model and freq running.

I suspected that slot 4 is faulty. But however i have tried using slot 1 and 3 it is still the same 4gb only.

How am i able to utilize 8gb?

Try using rams from your other rig? Could be that the rams for amd rig are faulty...

Thanks for the reply. I managed to solved it. Went to resit the CPU. And yeah now it shows 8gb with dual channel.

My new RAM (2x8GB) also detect 8 GB only even after resitting and changing slots. Then I just resit them again for like the 3rd/4th time then miraculously solved liao~

sometimes I feel the connection points a bit sensitive. like even a speck of dust can make it not able to detect and cause memory error.

Got 1 set of 2nd hand Kingston ram DDR1 2x1GB I bought. It was not detected so I went all the way to the service center and they just cleaned the pins with alcohol(not the drinking type) in 1 sec and showed me the that its working fine. Wasted my time and money going there.

After that when I always have memory problems I always use alcohol to clean on the mobo slots or ram pins.

Yeah really make me puzzled. Took me 1 whole day thinking what had happen.

More common issue on LGA platform actually due to improper pad/pin contact of the IMC as a result of uneven mounting pressure from the CPU HSF.
