what did you buy and how do you apply it?

I only use 2 ingredients.... pharmaceutical grade vitamin C powder (L-ascorbic acid) and distilled water....

some pple add in extra ingredients like vegetable glycerin, essential oils, etc....

bought small 30ml or 50ml dark color(usually amber or blue) glass bottle with either dropper cap, mist spray or treatment pump....

start out low... 5% vitamin C (1/4 teaspoon), 95% water....
next time will increase to 10%, 15% and finally 20% max....

when the serum changes color, must make fresh ones.... so usually make enough for 1 week can already.....

total spent abt $15 only, I think can make 1 year supply of vit c serum....

Yeah, what exactly is the process of er, the exfoliating, moisturising, toning... How often must it be done and in what order?

can use different brands for each type of "exfoliating, moisturising, toning" or must use the same?

you can definitely use different brands for each, in fact sometimes its best because not all brands excel in all types of products.

When you say exfoliating - most people think exfoliation is using a scrub which will help shed dead skin but they're not as effective (or even as gentle) as chemical exfoliants such as an AHA/BHA which speeds up the renewal process of your skin, helping to reduce excess oil, fine wrinkles etc.

This is the order you should use:
Facewash/scrub (day/night)--> toner (day/night) --> exfoliant (1x day or every other day)-->serum-->day or night moisturizer (day must have SPF).

You can go to our website tonicgrooming.com, just answer a couple of questions and we recommend suitable skincare products for your skin and even tell you what each product is for and when to use it. Shipping in SG is free.

Guys just found out this thread.. Any recommendation or products for removing forehead wrinkles?

If your wrinkles are caused by expression, then really only botox will help. But if its caused by aging or sun damage the best product that I've found to reduce the appearance of wrinkles is AHA. Our skin naturally renews itself once every 28 days or so, but this renewal process slows as we get older leading to dull skin, wrinkles, discoloration etc. Exfoliants such as AHA and BHA helps quicken the renewal process. AHA is best for older or drier skin while BHA is oil soluble and more suitable for oily/combo skin.
There are many types of AHA ie glycolic acid, mandelic acid etc. Some good brands are Peter Thomas Roth 10% Glycolic Acid Gel or Clinique Turnaround Revitalizing Serum.

Please go to our website Tonicgrooming.com. We give recommendations suitable for different skintypes, explain what each product is for and even tell you when to use each product. Shipment is free in SG.

morning guys, any all-in-one recommendation for moisturizer/sunscreen?

There are many really good moisturizer with SPF that you can use daily, even if all you're doing is going to the office. All very lightweight, absorbs quickly and doesnt leave a thick film on your face.

My favorites are kyoku for men's Facial Moisturizer SPF15 , Lab Series Daily Moisture Defense Lotion SPF15 among others. These are suitable for all skintypes.

If you want a mineral sunscreen (the difference btw a chemical sunscreen and mineral sunscreen is that the mineral sunscreen contains active mineral ingredients such as titanium dioxide or zinc oxide which isnt absorbed into the skin, rather it sits on top of the skin and deflects UV rays) you can try Coola Face SPF30 Cucumber Matte Finish.

You can head to our website at tonicgrooming.com, we recommend skincare products suitable for men based on their skintype and particular skin issue. Shipping is free in SG.

Thanks. Btw what is retinol? I heard it's one of the components that helps to reduce wrinkles?

Retinol is basically Vitamin A. Please head to our blog for more info-
tonicgrooming.com/blog/index.php/2016/08/08/anti-aging-superstar-retinol/

* Retinol helps damaged skin cells function normally by attaching itself to the damaged cell and telling it to act like a healthy cell again.

* It increases skin cell turnover – as dead cells slough away and new ones are created, new collagen is produced which decreases the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This process also helps to fade skin discolorations and to decrease enlarged pore size caused by sun damage, and can also potentially create elastin. (Side note: Collagen gives the skin its strength and structure while elastin allows the skin to snap back to its original shape).

* It is an antioxidant which helps fight free radical damage, keeping skin young.

* It can help fight acne as well. When retinol is absorbed into the skin, it breaks down into all-trans retinoic acid which potentially may function similarly to prescription level retinoids (ie Retin-A), which have a proven track record of fighting acne.

It's not all good though, higher concentration of Retinol can be very irritating for some people so I would suggest you ease into it (ie concentration of <1% to start. ) I would recommend seeing a dermatologist if you want to try a product with a higher Retinol concentration. Skinmedica has quite a few Retinol based products). Also you MUST use sunscreen if you use a product with Retinol in it.

Our Tonicgrooming.com website include several products with Retinol in it, however at low concentration as to avoid irritation.

Hopes this helps, cheers.

Which facial cleaner and toner to recommend for normal skin? See so many Brand’s outside. :s22:

There are so many that are good. If your skin isnt sensitive, i'd recommend Murad Refreshing Cleanser (contains a small amount of fragrance and has parabens), if it is I'd recommend iS Clinical Cleansing Complex (fragrance free, no parabens) for a cleanser.
Both these cleansers are effective but gentle and wont' strip your skin barrier at the same time.

For Toner, I'd recommend Lab Series Max LS Skin Recharging Water Lotion. It's very hydrating, has a good mix of anti-oxidants and is soothing as well.

You can get more recommendations @ tonicgrooming.com. We'll select appropriate products for your skin, tell you what ea product is for and how to use it. Shipping is free.

Any product recommendations for my skincare routine? Looking specially at toner and moisturiser but am open to new products for other purposes too (e.g. eye balm).

My skin type: oily.

Current skincare products:
  1. Cleanser: Cetaphil for oily skin
  2. Toner: ???
  3. Essence: SK II FTE
  4. Moisturiser: ???
  5. Mask: Innisfree jeju super volcanic mask (do I need a moisturising one as well?)

Current toner and moisturiser is Clinique Men. Previous brands are Missha and Innisfree (Forest series). My skin is still very oily despite using those brands so am open to jumping to other brands. Or is it possible that it's not the products but my face is just so oily that no products can help.

0.5mm for whole face excluding eye area, no pain no redness....

0.75mm for both cheeks, feels ok no pain, face is red....
minimal bleeding on area which I think I overtreated....

today is 5th day since treatment, skin still feels a bit tight and firm.... :):)

overall, love it, no regret buying it....
only got a few scars to get rid of....

Were u using the 12 or 36 needles?

If u have oily skin your moisutrier cannot be too rich. Stick to something light.

Cleanser - Cetaphil for oily skin is good.

Essence/Toner: If SKII FTE is Facial Treatment Essence. This is actually a toner so you don't need another one. SKII FTE is nearly all Pitera which essentially is fermented yeast - which although is a great anti-oxidant, source of protein and amino acid, skin soothing and repair ingredient, is a bit one noted.

Moisturizer: You should try Lab Series Instant Moisture Gel, very lightweight and is good for oily skin. It also contains several antioxidants and hydrating ingredients.

Mask: Innisfree Jeju Super Volcanic Mask --> I don't have the full ingredients list, but considering you're only supposed to use it 1-2x per for 10 minutes, i'm not too concerned. The only thing I would look out for is if your face is excessively dry after you wash it off...if it is, I would stop using it, if not Id continue using it.

Anything else --> considering your skin is so oily, I think the hydration that you get from the SKII FTE is sufficient.

You should definitely add a BHA to your regimen, use it after your toner. Oily skin tends to have an extra-thick coat of built-up dead skin on the surface, along with a thickened pore lining. Gently exfoliating (BHA is an exfoliant) helps to remove that build up and diminish clogged pores and bumps, while making skin feel smoother and less oily.

Try Paula Choice 2% BHA Liquid.

You don't have a serum in here - if you're over 30 I'd definitely would add one. I like dermalogica C-12 pure bright serum. Contains oligopeptides that have some research touting its ability to lighten skin.

You can also check out our website Tonicgrooming.com - we make create different skincare kit recommendations for different skintypes.
