Metered taxis at Phuket

If you have an experience, would you share with a strategy how to get metered taxis in/around Phuket? Also where now metered taxi counter is located at the airport?

Phuket is very different from bangkok
tuk tuk mini car is more common there ...
most of them wont go by meter ...
you might need to pay 200b for a short distance, or even up to 400b

u can get ur own driver, abt 700b for a van which can take up to 10 ppl ...
quoted 700b, cox we have only 3 pax ...

at least they would wait for u , no need go airport and queue up and get a cab ... the price at airport is 800b onwards if u going towards junceylon location ...

You should be ready that in the middle of the trip the minivan stop at travel agency where people are pressed for 20min to buy tours/etc. And if you refuse to step out, driver will walk away turning AC off and leaving you in the van in the middle of the heat.

Read TripAdvisor forums - they are full stories like this. This is the reason why I am avoiding sharing minivan.

To fully enjoy Phuket, I would get a rental car or a driver with car. Public transport is not great - limited competition, scams abound as only tourists "with money" would have to use that.

Grab Taxi is available in Phuket but it too has problems with its drivers.

For airport transfer and land tour
Day tour is abt 1200 to 1400b for 5 hours
