Let me guess. You have it installed on your HDD instead of SSD?
That could be one of the reasons. Try using the SSD to see if it helps.

Secondly, as what AMD has been using to tout against Intel with the Ryzen CPU is that Intel's CPU tends to have a lot of micro stutters. And this should be more apparent since your CPU is older. I've experienced it on mine even on normal use such as launching softwares from time to time.

Or... you have the Windows 10 Creator's Update installed and are affected like most gamers are with the new update that ruins your gaming experience.

Can check more here. https://www.pcworld.com/article/3223909/windows/windows-10-microsoft-promises-to-fix-an-ongoing-game-stuttering-problem.html

On a side note, you can try to set the Power Plan to High Performance when gaming instead of balanced to see if it helps.

in nvcp 3d settings, try set power mgmt mode to adaptive instead of optimal for witcher3 to test...
also disable any av scanners running to test...

May I know what Resolution are you playing at?

I have a Ryzen system and GTX 1080 Ti,

Playing at 3440x1440, running on SSD. GoG version of Witcher 3. I have no noticeable micro stutter.

However, the Frame Timing graph isn't a straight line, there are tiny bumps with a ms difference so that would be stutter on screen. Not noticeable for me.

Ok, since I am playing, remembered this thread...

In Frame Time graph, those circled in red always occurs. This is running through Novigrad. My 4th core is almost bottlenecked, might be the cause. Ignore the last bit of the frame time graph, that's just Ansel.

Either that or, Windows is just a bit rubbish at the moment...

Dear TS,

Maybe can try to re-install OS with essential drivers and programs only?! :)

but those are just small bumps, i believe normal to happen during all games rite?
for those tat do cause hitching tat can be seen & microstutter tat player can feel, the frame time spikes has to be much more severe & numerous (along with fps dips also?)

I am also getting micro stutters yesterday after I had a Windows update which install some security stuff on Friday. Overwatch turning was stuttering randomly and badly. Turned out, I went from 165Hz to 85Hz. I tried to increase my refresh rate but both Nvidia control panel and Windows 10 Display Settings shows the highest to be 85 Hz. Minitor's Overclock still shows 165 Hz.

After a restart, I managed to pick the 165 Hz on Nvidia Control Panel but Overwatch was still showing my highest refresh rate along with the different types of resolution as 85 Hz. Keep on closing and reopening and using Nvidia Control Panel -> Manage 3D Settings and Program settings but it was already set to Use 3D application for Set Vertical Sync.

So I opened the game and pulled the DP cable and reconnected. Black screen with the mouse. So I Windows out of the game and re-enter the game and voila. 165Hz can be picked with all the resolutions.

But right now, just a moment ago when I turned on my PC, my screen went blank on the lock screen prior to logging in.
I turned on my TV but nothing was displaying on the TV. Then I turned it off and my monitor refreshes and shows the lock screen.

Upon logging in, I was getting the error, "Application LockApp.exe has been blocked from accessing Graphics hardware" repeatedly more than 3 times like about 7 but only 3 shows up on the notification column.

Looks like I might have to reinstall the graphics drivers or it could be Windows "Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB4038782). Gonna bet it's the latter that broke the Nvidia drivers.

Yup. Mine is 1607. Now, I just received a notification in the centre of the screen telling of a Windows feature update to 1703. Only option was to 'Restart Now' and do the update, 'Schedule for an update' and 'Snooze'.

Read the news last year that Microsoft will slowly cripple 32bit (or something) which is what almost all Steam games run on so that gamers will hate the Steam games and opt for Windows Game platform to buy and play their games on.
After all, they have a monopoly and control on the updates and all and thus, this is the result. Look at how long till they give you the next fix. 1 month from now instead of right now. Unacceptable.

Did your fps dip when stuttering? What's your cpu? I heard witcher3 is quite a cpu intensive game. Your cpu usage % during the game?

Sent from Sent from my butthole using GAGT

my fps didnt dip. its not fps stuttering. its very minor / micro stuttering when walking around. just kinda annoying.

how to see cpu usage % during the game? i only use nvidia shadowplay to see the fps

yea. it still stutter. dont think its fps issue since its constant 90+++

if you are stuttering in other games as well, it's due to the windows 10 creator's update. wait for the fall creator's update with the supposed fix or install the anniversary edition version 1607. some games don't stutter for me but most of them do.

https://forums.geforce.com/default/...h-fps-drops-since-windows-10-creators-update/

havent try other game. only tried titanfall 2 and its smooth as a butter

i play at 1440p...hmm..probably i just have to get use to the micro stutter then :(
