I use Audio Technica ATH-M50x headphones. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a mic and I need one for gaming.

I’m looking around for microphones that can attach to the headphones. I came across on massdrop that they have Modmic (very ex) and Minimic (bad reviews).

Any recommendations for decent mics that don’t cost a bomb? Also I’m not willing to buy a gaming headset..

Budget?
Can consider getting Creative soundcard that comes
with Mic:

Sound Blaster Z PCI-E Internal
SB Omni Surround USB External

Audio Technica ATH-M50x is a professional monitor for music
so there isn't any optional Mic for it.
Alternate is look for desktop Mic but depending on the price
and brand.

If you want decent one sure be expensive so the Creative
option is your best option. Not to mention with soundcard,
your headphone will sound better than onboard sound.

Kill two birds with one stone but that is of cuz if you
have the budget.

Why not get an external mic to complement with your current headphones?
Can consider blue mic.

Thanks.. It’s nice to have a sound card but unfortunately, my gpu is vertically mounted and would be in the way of mounting the card.

Get creative sound blaster e1. It's a clip on DAC with in-built mic at 49 on creative website. Can probably get it cheaper if you find hard enough on carousell. Got mine at 30 bnib there.

Mic is fantastic. DAC is ok-ish but for less then 50, can't complain. Since it's a DAC you can obviously just plug And play so you don't have to worry about installing additional stuff.

Yes! Something like this is what I’m looking for. But of course one with a decent quality.

U buy from AMDK massdrop or kickstarter, they just take the same thing and repackage and sell u USD$20

External soundcard like Sound blaster omni surround 5.1
with build in microphone.
Just speak to the soundcard.

I believe the ideal position to place this would be in front of me on the table. However, it would end up picking up my keyboard noise instead of my voice LOL.
