Is it possible to take the exam without going for any lesson? I am considering to self-learn and do that.

Just sharing my experience for intellisoft advanced excel course. Not suitable for those who are not using excel frequently. Trainer is very impatient and unhelpful. If the question is too simple and not worth explaining in her own opinion, she will walk out of the class not saying anything and not even bother to teach you. I will think don't waste your money or skills future credit at this place.

I took at Avantus training, SSG funded, comes with Certificate of participation and ICDL cert. Spent $145.30 for youngsters after subsidy, can use skillsfuture if you want to.

Place is so cozy, food and beverages provided. Excel basic is easy to pass too. 36 qns, 45 mins, 75% attendance and passing score to get the govt grant.

Trainer - Mr Tan Tian An is patient and taught me a lot of things outside the scope of the syllabus, applicable to real life working scenario. Thoroughly enjoyed my session! Will be going for the excel advance course soon. ( Heard it's pretty tough to manage for adv 3 days course, 100 functions to know, basic only need to know 50 functions)

There will be trial exams to prep you before you sit for the actual test. Not difficult for basic don't worry!

I stumble upon this thread by chance and would like to share my experience in learning MS Excel.

I rely on 2 sources for my learning materials -

1. The National Library, and
2. The internet.

There are tons of books on Excel, from basic to VBA programming, in our National Library and many Excel forums on the internet with many helpful contributors.

I learn Excel for work purpose and not to obtain certification and hence I do not attend courses. I find that self reading and surfing the net is more convenient as I can do so at my our time and in the comfort of my home or office.

In the course of my work I have designed and written many applications. I have even modified one of my applications from a customised to a generic version and would be glad to share it with anyone who is interested. It is a Generic report writer - a very common use of Excel.

This application basically transforms a sorted worksheet into a formatted report with subtotals. It works with different report specifications without the need to modify even a single line of code.

Drop my a PM with your email if you need a copy. My objective of sharing is to gather feedback.
