Hi guys,

Recently I have this user that could not read excel files that were sent to him via email attachment.

When he open the files, excel tells him that it is protected and prompts him to enable editing. After enabling the editing, he is again prompted to open as read only. After clicking yes, all it shows him is a gray page with no other data/cells, only the header bar where you input your values in. All tabs can be clicked on.

The top of the application also shows only 'Microsoft Excel' instead of the file name and wheather it is [read only] or in [compatability view].

However when he forwards the email with this file attachment, I am able to open it with no problems, everything as per normal as how I would open a file and view it.

Is there any problem with his application itself? I've tried saving it again as another file name, changing file extension from xls to xlsx and also converting it for compatability. Nothing works.

EDIT: I have this another user whose excel application will not respond and hang after awhile. He uses alot of memory for excel, and he closes the files after he is done with the file. Once it starts hanging, I told him to open task manager and end the excel process. The application has the latest updates as well. It is becoming frequent now. Any ideas on preventing it from hanging/freezing?

Please advise and help. Thank you!

P.S. We're using excel 2010 and the files that were being sent to him are saved using an older version of excel, 93-2003 version.
