I am also looking to this.. looks great except for the pricing. It is said to be release on 16-Nov.. And it's a pity its not available here locally.

Re

SB2 lousy lah

1) No TB3 port(s) means cannot connect to eGPU for 4K gaming on external 4K monitor
2) USB ports are 3.1 Gen 1 (same as USB 3.0)
3) USB-C port is also 3.1 Gen 1 (same as USB 3.0)
4) That ugly dust-collecting gap between kb and screen is still there when closed
5) MS said can charge the SB2 using external battery bank through its USB-C port. The question is where to find such a high-powered battery bank?
6) White-colored SB2 will slowly turn yellowish in use.
7) Uses DDR3 RAM
7) Super expensive for the 15-inch 512GB SSD 16GB RAM model. The 1TB SSD will be even more expensive.
8) Won't be available here so service will be an issue

That's great news.... Thanks for sharing and helping me forget about SB2... :)
Initially still undecided, but then now quite clear.. I guess a surface pro 4 is a better option compare to SB2..

This is a very blinkered assessment.

It's a premium product that you should compare with a MacBook Pro if you need Apple type quality for Windows. Everyone will have their preferred features. Excellent battery life, build quality being some. Local availability is the biggest con for me otherwise I would seriously consider it.

Go through some objective spec comparison below

I think the main killer for this is the price tag and the questionable reliability that is plaguing the Surface brand which you can easily read online.

I feel MS have done a very sloppy job of upgrading the entire Surface line since pretty much nothing have changed in terms of design and ports. Also, the decision to throw in higher end components don't seem to be account for with better cooling. The result is a system that throttles heavily under load. For the price, I think you are better off getting a proper gaming laptop.

This is very disturbing as I believe battery drain issue is not remote to just SB2, but I recall it happened to SP3 and 4 as well. Which is why I am perplexed why people are still so happy to throw their hard earned money on MS Surface products when they charge premium price, but seems to be very buggy and defective.

It is costly. Doesn't make sense in terms of pricing:specs as well. :o

However there are up sides to using a Surface such as the pen and its overall form factor. Didn't buy into it at first - but slowly I got it.

There is something magical about using a Surface device - kinda like a MacBook

I don't buy that though. There are plenty of hybrids/ laptops out there with good pen support, so it is still very perplexing indeed. Especially when people are talking about SP4 screen flickering due to heat currently, and considering to buy a SP5 is beyond comprehension. :s22:

There’s a second kind of cool using it! Battery life imo is the least of my worries for my usage patterns. Only gripe is the lack of ports - I personally have a phobia of using any of the 2 ports the pro has. My Pro 1 had a broken USB pin from a tighter than normal thumb drive.

That said, Microsoft’s Surface support is excellent. One of the best - provided you have warranty.

Once out of warranty, that’s when issues arise. Either fork out $700++ for out of warranty replacement or try to diy fixit. It is one of the hardest I have ever done.
