It's a TABLET that runs Windows desktop OS.
It's not a laptop like the Macbook Air, Macbook Pro since there's no keyboard. But keyboard cover is sold separately.
Battery life I think is around 8 hours or less. I've used and tested many Microsoft Surface products in the past and their battery life is alright but definitely nowhere near laptop battery life.
Anyway, if you're looking for Windows tablet, consider the Lenovo ThinkPad X12 Detachable too which comes with the keyboard cover. Pricing is extremely competitive. Last time I checked they include 3-year onsite warranty.
Lenovo pricing on their website is very confusing though. You only get to see the true price on the final final final ordering page.
