This move smacks of desperation. It's definitely going to alienate their tablet partners.

Cautiously optimistic about this. I want this to work because it appears to have everything I want in it!

DIY tablets could be the thing of the future

u can buy OEM windows 8 or free android from the "clouds", choose a ARM or Intel processor + mainboard bundle, battery, LCD, SSD, many colour keyboard, battery pack and casing

mobile computing is getting more powerful and using less power

Oh just release the damn Tablet and complete my Metro-uality lifestyle pls?

Thanks!!!

Does it comes with a Hermes Pouch or something?

Do I have to custom-make from Hermes?
I like this coloured Pouch to go along with my wallet.

'd love to see Google's response @ IO. They must be scurrying like mice now.

Even in its infantile stage, the Surface blows all Android tablets out of the water.

Potential is definitely there...let's hope they don't screw it up like their Kin phones/Zune. :(

ARM has a proven track record in mobile computing, all the mobile device out there right now are running ARM cores be it Apple iOS or Andriod devices

microsoft is hedging with ARM in case intel screws up

intel processor guzzle power while ARM processor uses very little power

think intel better stick with desktop and ARM mobile

but intel knows the future of computing is the "cloud" and "tablets"

so bo bian, nei nei have to push out the product

as usual, the only people who can screw up Microsoft and likewise Nokia, is themselves.
