Hello!

Been looking to replace my desktop of 4y/o with a Mini Itx desktop, but got no idea where to start because I've been away from the hardware scene for 4years after i build my desktop. so asking on forum on any recommendation.

Currently budget around $600? you guys think can build a Mini Itx build base on that budget? If yes, could you put up some builds here so I can take a look and probably receive the advice.

Probably gonna use it for normal work, surfing etc and abit of dota 2 on max settings. Probably some diablo 3 also. haha.

Thanks in advance. will be lingering on the forum for this thread. Thanks thanks!

What are the items you need?

Monitor?
Keyboard and Mouse?
Wifi?
OS win7 or 8?
Speakers?

TBH 600 may be a bit tight.

dota 2 and diablo on max settings? You cant do that even on a normal build let alone a mini itx one. Up your budget.

I dont need anything else other than the desktop. I got the OS, Monitor, mouse, keyboard and speakers already.

Your help is much appreciated!

Dota 2 on max settings only.
Diablo 3 can play on medium settings without a drop in fps can already. like smooth playing can already.

Haligod, accidentally clicked delete on your post. but yeah I've been reading up and searching online. Seems like 1k for a mini Itx build would be better. If my budget increased to 1k, any recommendations?

1k itx setup. Since your games arent intensive can may be settle for r9 270.

MSI H81i ITX + i5-4430 ~ $316
Crucial 8gb 1600mhz ~ $89
WD Blue 500gb ~ $62
Kingston v300 120gb ~ $115
Powercolor r9 270 2gb ~ $245 (Smallest r9 270 available)
FSP450-60GHS 450w 80+ Bronze SFX PSU ~ $90
Jonsbo U1 Black ~ $83

Total ~ $1000 flat.

Buy at tradepac. DIY. Might wanna try other shops for the PSU cause i have saw 1 unit left in tradepac.

CoolerMaster Elite 110 Mini-ITX Case (Black)
MSI H81I H81 Skt1150 Mini-ITX Motherboard
Gskill 2x 4GB 1600 DDR3 Value Rams
Corsair CX430M 430W Modular 80+ Bronze
Intel i5-4570 3.2GHz Quad-Core
Plextor M5S 256gb SATAIII 2.5" 6Gb/s SSD (3yr wty)

Currently I got this build, looking to fit a graphic card into the CM 100 case. Any recommendation for the graphic card? Would the powercolor r9 270 fit into the CM elite 110 casing? or must I use Jonsbo U1.?

Did you already buy that? Any specific reasons to change to a 4570 and a plextor 256gb?

Haven't buy yet. Its just the list I gathered. 4570 comes as a bundle wight he Mobo, but it's only slightly more expensive than the 4430 so I'm okay with price. I read online review that the 4570 is also slightly faster. For the 256 SSD, because I wanted a 120gb SSD + 1TB HDD, but I got an external 3TB HDD. So I'll just get a slightly bigger SSD for about the same combined price as a SSD + HDD combo and just use my external HDD to store all my other files.

But I think for the GPU, I can just stick with the powercolor r9 270. its in a pretty decent price range.

You can use the CM 110. And yes you can fit the powercolor r9 270. It is at 198mm. CM110 has a clearance of 207mm. Most probably the connectors are at the end.

PSU swap out to something else. The CX PSU is crap. Go for Superflower HX500. See if you can find in SLS.

Is it recommended to have R9 290 TF in mini ITX casing? Was told Coolermaster 120 could fit.

I think can fit. if you check online the length of the R9 290 is about 275mm while the case can hold up to a length of 343mm. Its more of if you want a bigger or smaller desktop size I guess

AnandTech | 350-450W Roundup: 11 Cheap PSUs

Read up.

Not a very god PSU to begin with.

If you are gonna put in the R9 270 + CPU. Most probably you are gonna hit 80% load.

Once you hit that level your fans will start to make noise. And lastly thier reviews on 230VAC which is our wall power, shows the worse power factor across all loads.
