yes up your 760 to something more powerful... 760 can't handle ultra in BF4 unless you agree to Devilwahahaha's opinions...

Im also building and currently have built an itx gaming system. One thing to keep in mind in choosing your build is how big or small you want your system to be. A GTX 780 can fit in some itx casing but compromise on size. Currently am using a GTX 760 but will up it to the Titan or Ti not black for the upcoming Titanfall.... gtx 760 plays well with the game im playing right now at 1080p, DOTA2.

I need advice from you guys out there to build a Mini-ITX gaming Rig. I already have my mind on the MSI Z87I GAMING AC & MSI N760 2GD5/OC ITX Gfx Card for the GPU and MB, but need you guys to advice on con and pros on this items. And also what other item i should o for this gaming rig. Budget not more than 2k.

Thanks

Hi, I agree with devilwahaha. For mini-ITX gaming rig, there has to be a compromise between size and performance. A good baseline to follow is the Valve Steam Machine: Steam Machine Teardown - iFixit

GPU: The MSI GTX760 ITX may not be the best choice as it is more expensive than other GTX760. You are paying a premium for its short length which may not be necessary as your casing may be able to accommodate normal GTX760 cards.

Motherboard: You may want to consider the Asrock Z87E-ITX or H87M-ITX. I believe the MSI Z87 Gaming is more expensive and you are paying more for the Killer LAN and fancy marketing.

CPU and Overclocking: Don't bother with OC for an ITX case. Very limited room for a decent cooler. Just go with a i5-4570 and it can handle everything.

Memory: Just get some value sticks. 2 x 4GB for budget or 2 x 8GB if you are feeling a bit extravagant.

Storage: SSD is a must. Samsung EVO 840 from amazon is a good buy. 250GB or 500GB are at pretty good price points now. HDD depends on how much stuff you have to archive. I believe a good price point is 3TB.

Case: Recommend the Silverstone SG08. Very small and sleek ITX case. I am using that now and it comes with a custom 600W PSU which is decent.

Monitor: Recommend Dell U2312HM. Good price ($250 I think) and decent performance.

Keyboard/Mouse: Personal preference really. Mechanical (Brown Cherry MX switch) keyboard recommended. Not too loud with tactile feedback. Your fingers will thank you for it.

You should be able to fit all these within your budget.

Intel 4770K + GIGABYTE G1.SNIPER M5 or MSI Z87I GAMING AC $655/$662
GIGABYTE R9 280X OC BF EDITION $459
G.SKILLS RIPJAWS X 1866 MHZ (4 GB x 2) $122
SEASONIC G-SERIES 650W $137
SILVERSTONE TJ-08E (mATX) or CORSAIR 250D (mITX) $149/$139
SAMSUNG 840 EVO (120 GB) $139
WESTERN DIGITAL BLACK (2 TB) $187

Adds up to $1848 based on the prices on the left.

You should consider the Silverstone TJ-08E. It's very small and compact and has a lesser footprint than Corsair 250D.

And for your case, I think you should get i5 4570 + MSI H87I-ITX better since you probably know nuts about overclocking. The combo price is $402 at Tradepac. This shaves off $250 from the cost of the CPU and MOBO. Use this to trade up to a R9 290 or use the money to buy a mechanical KB and a good mouse. R9 280X is more than enough already.

And the GTX 760 is super not worth it. The distros never adjust the prices.

At this price get R9 280X better. Don't even waste your money on a R9 290.

TS if you are in for a better gaming performance at 2k you should be looking at something like this without the need of overclocking and with a Intel Wifi Dual Band mini Pcie wireless included.

MSI H87I ITX + i5-4570 ~ $372
Gskills Ripjaws 1600mhz 2x4gb kit ~ $110
WD Blue 1tb ~ $76
Crucial m500 240gb ~ SGD$167 (Amazon)
MSI R9 280X Twin Frozr 3gb ~ $469 (With BF4 copy)
Seasonic G650 650w 80+ Gold Modular PSU ~ $135
Bitfenix Prodigy Mini choose any color you like ~ $130
Samsung ODD ~ $21
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM ~ $115

Total ~ $1595. Buy at tradepac. DIY

The remainder of the budget goes to other stuffs like peripherals instead. Invest on a good Mechanical Keyboard and a good gaming mouse. Also probably can add in a good speakers.

Or alternatively you can squeeze in a r9 290.
