Mini ITX Setup as HTPC

Hi All,

Will like to seek your opinions on the following mini itx setup I am considering for my htpc, which is mainly used for internet surfing and streaming. Not looking to play any games on it and am looking for a low power consumption unit.

CPU and Mobo: Intel G2020 + Asrock Z77E ITX - 252
SSD: Crucial MSATA 128gb - 168
HDD: WD Green Power 2 TB - 119
Ram: Gskills DDR3 4gb *2 - 72
Casing: Jonsbo V2 with 300W PSU - 99

Chose this combi for the mSATA so that I can fit in the Jonsbo casing. However, please advise if you think there are better alternatives.

No need Z77E mobo, B75M ITX will suffice.
SSD: Crucial MSATA 128gb - 168
Normal 2.5'' SSD also can fit into Jonsbo. No need to get MSATA.

HDD: WD Green Power 2 TB - 119
IIRC, WD Green is not that reliable. Can't remember exactly what is the issue though.
Ram: Gskills DDR3 4gb *2 - 72
4GB should be more than enough for a HTPC.
Casing: Jonsbo V2 with 300W PSU - 99
Jonsbo V2 has no 5.25'' DVD drive bay. If you want to install one on your pc, can consider CM Elite 120.
Chose this combi for the mSATA so that I can fit in the Jonsbo casing. However, please advise if you think there are better alternatives.

Ram: Kingston 1600mhz 4GB @ ~$38

Buy and build at Tradepac.

Thought of using the msata cause jonsbo v2 seem to b able to fit two 2.5 inch or one 3.5 inch hdd. Maybe I should take a look at v3 then. If so, any recommendation for psu?

You are not installing a graphics card? Can install ssd anywhere, as long don't touch motherboard (you don't know what it will short) and don't touch the fan.

Non modular PSU should be fine for Jonsbo V3+ & V6.

Consider a PicoPSU which is a perfect companion for HTPC PC.

(Understand the 2120 gives better performance per watt)
SSD: Plextor M5S 128GB @ $139

Do some research first, there are quite alot of ubuntu variants that you can play with.
