No gaming, just get anything that fit within your budget. Also depend if you like window or mac OS.

Apple mac mini, didn't heard any refresh models coming out also.

I have been running my own DIY pc and mac setups side by side for a long time. My personaly opinion is that for anything non gaming...macs are the superior machine. This is of course an individual choice and may not apply to all...and ragnarok is right, the mac mini is very out of date. If you can afford to spend a little more, maybe consider running a macbook pro docked to a monitor instead. But basic office type work is no problem even for the mac mini

Mac mini is not really updated.if you got cash to spare get an Intel skull canyon NUC.its thunderbolt 3 port enabked have been been to work very well with an external GPU solution like razor core paired with a great graphic card will give a more than decent gaming performance.else the zotac magnus series with gtx 1060-1080 solution is wn amazing option as well.

yes you're right, but the alternative you mention doesnt run OS X. Thats where the real benefit comes from. For example, my productivity usage is much smoother, faster, and more efficient on my 2013 macbook pro (which is where I do all of my work) despite the much lousier hardware spec vs my 7700K desktop windows pc. But of course this really depends on the user and what he needs to do with his computer. I'm assuming TS is already familiar with Mac OS, otherwise he better try it first to make sure it's something he likes, otherwise I would agree with you to just go with a basic windows pc instead

exactly. might seem a bit on the expensive side, but at least the experience is going to be a decent one if all the guy needs to do is browsing, downloading and streaming

I have a mac mini myself I can that thing has lasted me 6 years so far and it still works flawlessly and it's quite fast. I've been able to take it anywhere with me from a continent to another. :s12:
