I am looking for a mini gaming PC, budget below 1k, any recommendations?
Look for 780m to 680m igpu, the 780m if possible and go for 32gb ram at least . You going to game on 1080p for AAA games on low to medium settings. $1300 onwards can get you a 890m but I really dun see the point of spending more than $800 onwards

This one not bad

Minisforum MS-02 Ultra

https://www.techradar.com/pro/minis...at-extra-space-should-win-it-a-lot-of-friends

It

1) runs on Intel’s Core Ultra 9 285HX, a 24-core processor from the Arrow Lake-HX line
2) has four SODIMM slots that support up to 256GB of DDR5-4800 ECC memory
3) four M.2 2280 slots that can hold up to 16TB of PCIe 4.0 x4 storage
4) three PCIe slots, one 5.0 x16, one 4.0 x16, and one 4.0 x4, although the processor only supports 24 PCIe lanes, which means not all slots operate at full speed
5) This model includes a PCIe 4.0 x16 slot fitted with a “25 Gigabit NIC card” that supports several Ethernet options: two 25Gbps SFP+ ports, one 10Gbps Ethernet port, and one 2.5Gbps Intel i226-LM port
6) it supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 through an M.2 E-Key slot.
7) includes two USB4v2 Type-C ports capable of 80Gbps transfer with DisplayPort Alt Mode, along with one USB4 Type-C port offering 40Gbps transfer.
8) includes three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, an HDMI 2.1 output, and a 3.5mm audio combo jack
9) a 350W power supply support

Let's look at the PROS and CONS

PROS

1) Great with 2x25Gbps SFP+ ports for futureproofing

1) No TB5 support because Intel’s Core Ultra 9 285HX, although a Arrow Lake processor, doesn't support TB5
2) Cannot daisychain multiple 8K monitors because USB4v2 don't support it. DP2.1 and TB5 allow the daisychaining of two(2) 8K@60fps monitors. USB4v2 with DisplayPort Alt Mode can daisychain dual 4K@60fps monitors though

New to mini PCs, but now that I'm looking to upgrade my aging laptop, came across them and seem interesting. Usage profile is mostly web browsing, spreadsheets...no gaming. One other preference worth noting is I prefer the fans to be quiet.

Was recommended the Beelink Ser8, but it seems to be out of stock, or I may not know where to look. Any suggestions where to buy one?

Any other alternative brand/models to recommend? Many thanks.

If you don't mind mac os, can consider refurbished mac mini, as low as $439

Unfortunately, mini pc pricing is high now, last time would recommend $200 n100 mini pc on amazon, but now no longer this pricing

Got ASRock, Asus NUC, Beelink, Gigabyte, Minisforum and Zotac.

Also, for major pc brands like Dell, HP and Lenovo, they have their own mini pc under their business class desktops. Example: https://www.hp.com/sg-en/shop/hp-elitedesk-8-mini-g1i-desktop-ai-pc-c30n5pt-1.html
