Sorry, r7 370 cannot mine etherium coin anymore. Its 2gb card.

So you can only use your gtx1070. You can go online to calculate profitability.

Actually you still can make lots of money mining etherium. Esp, now the price is around usd364 now. I reckon it will break 400.

Onyl

However you need to be patient. Eth went down to 200 a while ago and many people quit. They thought its dead. Thats not the case.

If you want to mine cheap, use 2nd boards. I bought and old hp xeon workstation for $120. There are 5 pcie slots. I could install 4 x r9 290 to mine. It managed only around 103mh/s but good enough.

Unfortunately i stopped already due to the noise, my cards are all ref cards. The fan super noisy, managed to buy 3 water blocks but no time to fix.
I have a z400 board sleeping somewhere..bought from taobao ard 60sgd including shipping. time to dig out and use. I just hooted low powered cpu to go with it and platinum 1000w psu. This weekend will try to bring it alive

https://world.taobao.com/item/543130423443.htm?spm=a312a.7700714.0.0.675ba573epmde9#detail

I be running gtx1070x2 , gtx 970x2 and r7 370x2. All this are my spare cards. Will this combination work?

Another thing is 1000w psu enuf? I have Golden Flower 1000w Platinum (lost some of power connectors as well) but worry it will uplorry if stress too much. its 5 yrs old already if not good enuf, what to buy.:(

My z400 board needs a special hsf that doesnt hit capacitor (Default hsf from intel - hitting it) and pcie only 3 usable :(

The PSU in terms of watts is enough, but not PCI-E power ports. You should daisy chain 2 together.

You should prepare your AMD cards with tweaked BIOS. Make sure you know how to reduce TDP on your Nvidia cards if you choose Linux

AMD tweak bios I need to research for sure. Both different brands. Zzzz

Nvidia can use MSI afterburner to unvolt and overclock memory. I have not receive my PCIE risers yet so I cannot test.

Go to the anorak website. Can download pre-tweaked BIOS for a lot of cards.

Thanks! Any other advise? Alot online is not SG related, so I wanna to know whether it is still doable.
I remembered i once considered this

For Ether at a rate of $280, it takes 5x SLIed rigs a month
For BTC, its about a year
Gross was around $350 with $150 being electricity costs.
Assuming each system is around $1200, based on the above figures, thats an ROI of around 30 - 36 months assuming coin value increases proportionately as the rate of mining difficulty

Mining rigs are all about efficiency to power and it always assumes you have cheap electricity. So unless you are in a developing country, or you can sneak your mining rigs under your parent's nose, the electricity bills pile up. Then there is also the issue of recovery in the event of a power failure.

In short, it is simpler to just buy hold sell the various coins than manufacturing the coins...

thanks for the insight. I will still mine but only use existing hardware
