mITX build for photo editng

Hi All,

I plan to build an mITX system to use mainly for Lightroom and photoshop. The only thing I currently have is a Samsung U28D590D 4K monitor.

Am I able to use HDMI 1.4 and run at 30Hz? or 60Hz through DP will be better??
I want a quiet power supply but not too expensive. Had a Seasonic X before but these are quite ex and comes in high power only.
Recommend a nice case too. Any solution for SD card reader besides USB??

2. Do you mind getting AMD or you prefer Intel?
3. Superflower Leadex Gold is a good substitute to Sensonic X.
4. How do you define a nice case? Itx can be cube or slim and which kind do you prefer?
5. I am not sure about SD card reader that is not running via USB. Haven't seen a sata SD card reader yet. Maybe I'll take a look at it.

In this case, the logical direction is the 7700k. Those Broadwell-E processors don't do well either.... especially for their price

LR or PS editing doesn't use that much resources until you start exporting. Should get 16GB ram min and maybe i7 7700 non K since it's mITX or you could get 7700K with little OC since cooling and airflow is limited for sff. Getting a Nvidia gpu is also recommended.

For SD card reader, no choice except to go with external USB SD card reader since mITX won't have extra pcie slot for sd card reader.

RAM: Kingston Valueram DDR4 2133MHz 16gb ($162)
PSU: Corsair SF450 ($149)
SSD: PNY CS1311 240GB ($109)
HDD: WD Blue 1TB 2.5" ($91)
GPU: Zotac GTX 1050 TI OC mini ($204 via lazada after $15 off)
OS: Windows 10 Home (<$30 via carousell)

TOTAL: $1466

Mobo need to be flashed to the latest bios for Intel 7000 series processor to work with h100 series mobo. Ask the shop to help you with it or bring the mobo to distro to settle it.

Add a 120mm fan to the gpu chamber side to feed fresh air to the gpu.

You can change the stock fan for cpu to a cryorig c7 ($55) for better temp and noise lvl. Stock fan works fine too but this option is open for you to consider.

Since you're using mitx, I don't think you have much choice other than to use USB SD card reader.

If this rig will run video editing as well, then I'd suggest you get a gtx 1060 6gb for gpu.

2. Instead of getting the GTX 1050, does it make sense to get a better motherboard with DP output?? Saw some Z270 with DP...
I believe graphics card will not add much to Lightroom and Photoshop..

3. WOn't need HDD, since I have a fast NAS already at home... May get a bigger SSD though..

4. Any feedback whether I could just go for the 7600 instead of 7700?? Is the k necessary? the 7600 will save me some $$$$

5. Hence I recommend 1 stick of 16gb ram. If not enough, you could always get another 16gb, making it 32gb and I believe by then it will be more than adequate.

mITX smaller. Some cases have limitation in hardware selection. Do plan your hardware and check manufacturer given specs and clearance while choosing. A lot simple nowadays as quite a number of ITX cases allow housing GPU of 300+mm as long as it's two slots height, while some cases (mostly cube) can house even PS2 ATX PSU. Please check the respective manufacturer specs and clearance.

mATX more common and choices and cheaper as cheapest form of mobo and psu is all in ATX form factor. However, higher end ATX stuff is also more expensive as they have more features.

2. I still cannot find any links stating that a GPU will help.... I am looking at a Z270 with DP+HDMI.... If GPU really helps, I may need to get a B250 with a GPU..... Any more thoughts????

4. Still learning towards the 7600.. Will see the overall budget...

By the time Ryzen 5 4C8T hits the market, Core i7-7700K won't make sense altogether...

Uh..... I don't think so unless they manage to boost the clock speed for Ryzen 5 processors dramatically over the current 1800X.
