Hi everyone,

I OOC-ed from SCS and went to NSC several times and got Seborrhoeic Dermatitis as diagnosis.

It is incurable and triggers depending on situation.

In my case, long exposure to sunlight and heat will cause burning pain and peeling on my face but the MO said it has to cover 30% of body surface area(it doesn't in my case).

I'm worried that in the long run, this condition will cause permanent effects on my skin.

What should I do since the requirements for down PES isn't met?

Got see. Affected areas of my face was red when he saw me but according to directive... need 30% body surface area which is quite weird because my condition mostly wont even hit 15%

Directives are written with professional opnions and experiences. You will need to understand that you may not be only the individual having such an issue.

If your specialist hesitates to write in the memo suggesting for a down-pes would probably mean that they view your condition as being suitable to continue in what you are undergoing, and that won't be nice for them to tell you that you are actually suitable.

Specialist at NSC are not binded to SAF's medical directive and is of their legal responsibility to ensure your wellbeing. They do not need to withhold professional opinions to say that you are not eligible in your current status.

Having said that, you may consider the necessary legal procedures, including filing of service injury if your conditions is to get worst during your term of service. Take note that there is a timeframe in reporting service injuries, and the procedures takes a very long time.

Why don't you look at it this way, this current MO maybe want to pass on the decision of downgrading to another MO. N once you go to your new unit, see the new MO, maybe he will find another way to justify?

Btw u get posted to 9 SIR as what? Infantry trooper?

I mean if specialist never recommend, the MO will never put you up for medical board because he think it might not be serious.

Many times doctor do not know how serious or how it will impact you, you need describe how it affect you and why you think you are unsuitable. Then tell specialist the procedure is he need to write something for SAF to review if you will be downgraded. Specialist is only recommend, but he is not deciding. So let medical board decide.

MO dun decide, it is the medical board that decide. He only write in to medical board. If specialist recommend, MO lan lan must write in.

Write several memo liao but the memo is just saying what condition I have leh

If you current specialist refuse to state that you are not suitable for outfield training, you might need to change another specialist for a second opinion.
