Mobile eCommerce (Android to Begin)

I got affected in recent economy slowdown. So I am looking for a solution to start a small Android based eCommerce application. I have done some base research I felt there is an opportunity.

It is a risky bet so I am keeping at minimalist solution which can be scaled later.

- to Begin Android only
- Login Page, User registration, OTP verification
- Add profile photo (from Gallery)
- Products (25 products)
- Product Group (10 groups)
- clicking product will display product details with image and price, add to basket, default qty 1. User can increase qty
- Clicking product group will list all products in the group (with images of all products, spec, no individual price of products instead group pricing),default qty 1, user can add to basket
- Checkout page, Select/Enter Delivery Address
- OTP Authorization for ordering
- Payment (Cash On Delivery) other payment to be evaluated.
- Order Status : Delivery date and Time,
- Maintain Order History
- Optional Loyalty Points.
- Notification for promotion etc.

- Application has approximately 25 products now.
- Product Group: Products will have groups of products packaged.

- Vegetarian Special Package
- Veggie Pizza, medium Potato Wedges,Coke
- Low Fat Special Package
- Baked Chicken Pizza, Salad, Coke Light/zero

Most of the customer base is order through mobile apps only. So web based order is optional.

Payment: Still not decided whether to use paypal or credit card. Any cheaper option with lower transaction fees? Any online nets option? Want to have COD.

Should be hosted on cloud so it can be scaled.

1. IT techie with zero or minimal business experience
2. Engineer preferring companionship of engineers instead of businesspeople

Assuming my assumptions,

• Best option: Join NTUC U Associate, it's free, know more people, speak to more like minded folks, attend more courses at e2i
• Native Application: If you target ONLY Singapore market, register with ACRA, talk to a native business advisor from Spring Singapore
• HTML5: Hire a Banglah from freelancer.com if you are prototyping, or an intern if you already have a UEN
• Magento: Get a reliable .sg domain name, there are promotions now, don't run Magneto on a free server that cheats you of your feelings.
• Wordpress: You are bettering off going international if you use WP, target US West Coast and Europe instead of Singapore, at least you malu in a manner that you feel good because you aimed big.
• php: Wordpress is already coded from PHP. You won't need to reinvent the wheel.
• shopify: You are better off using Amazon or even eBay perhaps if your intended path is narrow.
• Woocommerce: You should do a Specialist Diploma in Digital Business at Republic Polytechnic if you want to use anything other than those we mentioned above.
