Hi,

I will be going to japan i 2 weeks time for the first time. As i read online free wifi in japan is hard to come by. I was thinking of getting an prepaid sim card or rent a mobile wifi device, may i check which option is more cost effective?

Below link is the mobile wifi i'm talking about:

Thanks in advance

For me I will be renting the wifi as we have 2 phones. And we also anticipate calls from Singapore so cannot use the data sim solely

you can get a jap sim that allows you to call out but the charges is almost as expensive as using autoroam plus the no. is a jap no. in my opinion, might as well use autoroam - no need to carry 2 phones.

easiest is buy a data card and use skype or similar internet based tel to call out. v cheap and reception is reasonable.

Especially important phone calls from Singapore, be it work or personal. This is the main reason I opt for roaming instead

Internet access in Japan

So they do sell SIM cards for unlimited internet? I'm fine with not having the call function, but I'll need 3G . :s11:
